Business Process Architect – Advanced (APG MES)

Santa Clara, CA (Onsite – 5 Days)

Contract

Position Summary

Applied Materials is seeking a highly experienced Business Process Architect with deep expertise in APG 300Works MES, semiconductor manufacturing, and factory automation. This role will lead the architecture and integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Material Control Systems (MCS), and related manufacturing applications to deliver scalable, reliable, and event-driven manufacturing solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of semiconductor MES workflows, material tracking, equipment integration, and cross-system architecture while driving end-to-end manufacturing process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

APG MES Platform Architecture

  • Design and architect solutions within the APG 300Works MES platform.
  • Configure and optimize server-side business rules, dispatching logic, RTD, and AMA rules engine.
  • Evaluate standard MES capabilities versus custom Lab MES extensions.
  • Define manufacturing execution workflows including lot travelers, recipe management, and dispatch processes.

MCS–MES Integration

  • Design integration between Material Control Systems (MCS) and MES applications.
  • Develop event-driven workflows using Pulsar messaging and carrier state updates.
  • Define synchronization models across Lab MES, MCS, WFM, and factory automation systems.
  • Support stocker, conveyor, and host-to-equipment communication interfaces.

Material Tracking & Data Modeling

  • Architect semiconductor manufacturing data models for carrier (FOUP), lot, and slot-level tracking.
  • Establish data contracts, integration standards, and synchronization strategies.
  • Ensure end-to-end material traceability and data integrity across manufacturing applications.

APG Ecosystem Integration

  • Integrate MES with RTD, AMA, TME, metrology, and other manufacturing systems.
  • Orchestrate end-to-end workflows spanning process operations, material movement, and equipment automation.
  • Manage cross-system dependencies, exception handling, and recovery scenarios.

Performance & Reliability

  • Define latency SLAs, throughput targets, and scalability requirements.
  • Establish resilient integration frameworks with retry, fallback, and error-handling mechanisms.
  • Drive production readiness through monitoring, observability, benchmarking, and operational support standards.

Required Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Deep expertise with APG 300Works MES Architecture
  • Strong knowledge of RTD, AMA Rules Engine, Dispatching, and Business Rules
  • Hands-on experience with Material Control Systems (MCS) integration
  • Experience with Pulsar Messaging and event-driven architectures
  • Knowledge of SECS/GEM and EDA equipment communication protocols
  • Expertise in FOUP/Carrier Management, Lot Tracking, and Slot-Level Material Integrity
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing workflows and factory automation
  • Experience designing scalable, high-availability integration architectures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Semiconductor manufacturing industry experience
  • Expertise in factory automation and equipment integration
  • Experience integrating MES with metrology and material handling systems
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to lead complex manufacturing integration projects from architecture through production deployment
