EL1 Storage Engineer

Our client is a nationally recognised institution responsible for preserving and delivering access to one of Australia's largest and most valuable digital information environments. They are investing in modern, resilient technology platforms and are seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to play a key role in the future of their enterprise infrastructure.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to take ownership of enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery capabilities within a collaborative technical team supporting mission critical ICT services. As the senior technical specialist for enterprise storage, you will lead the ongoing design, operation and continual improvement of large scale storage and backup platforms that underpin critical business services and nationally significant digital collections. Working across both operational support and project delivery, you'll influence infrastructure strategy, storage architecture, disaster recovery capability and long term technology planning while working alongside experienced infrastructure professionals.

The Role

Reporting within the Director of Technology Operations team, you'll be responsible for maintaining highly available storage and backup environments while driving continuous improvement across enterprise infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

• Design, administer and optimise enterprise storage platforms
• Enterprise storage platforms such as Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, Pure Storage or IBM
• Manage SAN infrastructure, storage networking and capacity planning
• Support enterprise backup, recovery and restoration services
• Develop and test Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity capabilities
• Manage storage replication and archival solutions, including LTO tape libraries
• Deliver infrastructure improvements and support technology projects
• Strengthen cyber resilience through secure storage and backup practices
• Manage vendor relationships, procurement activities and technical documentation

The Ideal Person

You are currently working as an EL1 or APS6 Senior Storage/Infrastructure Engineer in government or come from a commercial background with strong experience managing enterprise storage, backup, and recovery environments within large, complex organisations. You'll have expertise across enterprise storage platforms, Fibre Channel SAN, VMware, Windows/Linux infrastructure, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and infrastructure lifecycle management, with vendor management, procurement, and PowerShell/Python automation experience highly regarded.

You need to be an Australian Citizen, and a NV1 clearance is desirable.

Salary / Rate

• $121k-$141k + Super
