Job Description

Business Title: Senior Ultrasound Embedded Software Engineer – IVUS

Location: San Diego, CA

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

  • We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of a next-generation Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) medical device. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded C/C++, hardware/software integration, FPGA/electronics, and data acquisition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, integrate, and debug embedded software using C/C++.
  • Develop software interfaces between embedded systems, FPGA, electronics/PCBA, and console systems.
  • Support ultrasound signal acquisition, data processing, and imaging functionality.
  • Perform hardware/software integration, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • Support unit, integration, and system-level testing.
  • Develop software for diagnostics and manufacturing/production test systems.
  • Create technical design, architecture, interface, and verification documentation.
  • Collaborate with Software, FPGA, Electronics, Systems, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on C/C++.
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers/processors, DSP, or FPGA.
  • Strong hardware/software integration and debugging experience.
  • Experience with ADC/data acquisition and embedded communication interfaces.
  • Experience with software architecture, technical design, and testing.
  • Experience with Git/source control.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ultrasound / IVUS / Medical Imaging experience.
  • Medical-device development experience.
  • Experience with FPGA, electronics/PCBA, and signal processing.
  • Experience with ASIC replacement or platform migration.
  • Knowledge of IEC 62304, FDA/ISO-regulated development, or medical-device design controls.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
