Assistant Clubhouse & Events Manager

Pyrford Lakes isn't a golf club. It's a venue where the music's playing before you reach the door, the bi-folds are open to the lake and the kitchen smells of pizza and live grill. On a busy day we welcome 500+ people, and we host 200+ events a year.

We're looking for someone to help us make every one of them brilliant.

The role

You'll be the Clubhouse Manager's right hand, keeping the clubhouse, The Lounge and our event spaces running smoothly day to day. Rotas, ordering, hiring, training and developing the team are all yours.

You'll also look after bookings and sales for our smaller events, from parties to get-togethers, and turn enquiries into great days. You'll work alongside the Venue Sales Manager, who leads on corporate and bigger-ticket events.

What you'll be doing

Running the place

• Leading the day-to-day across the clubhouse and events, and making sure everything inside and out looks the part.
• Owning stock: ordering, wastage and monthly counts.
• Coaching and developing the team, and helping them hit their KPIs.
• Making sure our food and drink keeps hitting the mark with guests, and that quality never slips.
• Working with the Clubhouse Manager to keep budgets on track, including labour, food costs, payroll and bar margins.
• Owning the guest experience across the clubhouse and Function Suite.
• Keeping us safe and legal: health & safety, food hygiene, licensing, and making sure the team keeps up with their online training.

Making events happen

• Planning events and functions with guests, and seeing them through to the end.
• Pinning down catering, AV, set-up and timings.
• Keeping the kitchen, bar and ops teams moving as one.
• Being there on the big days, and making sure guests leave buzzing.

What you'll bring

Experience

• 2–3 years in hospitality management or assistant management. Golf clubs, country clubs, hotels and event venues are all good places to have learned your trade.
• A track record of picking up enquiries, converting them into bookings and pulling off private and social events like parties, functions and smaller gatherings.
• Real food and drink know-how: restaurant and bar management, stock control and looking after a team.
• The confidence to make decisions and get on with it.

Skills

• Great at organising your time and other people's: rotas, priorities, multiple things at once, all at pace.
• A natural with people. Outgoing, approachable and easy to talk to, whether it's members, guests, clients or your team.
• Commercially switched on: upselling, cost control, revenue and what makes a margin in F&B and events.
• Confident with suppliers, inventory and keeping presentation and hygiene standards high.
• Comfortable with CRM and booking systems, Microsoft Office and basic reporting on enquiries and operations.
• A solid grasp of health & safety, food hygiene and licensing. Level 2 or 3 food hygiene is a bonus.
