Full Stack Developer ( Full-time Remote Role)

Position Summary
The Full Stack Developer builds and operates the service layer that CloudAI's products and customer solutions depend on. The role is weighted toward API development: designing GraphQL schemas and API contracts, implementing the services behind them, and carrying the work through to production with the tests, instrumentation, and documentation that make it dependable. Full stack in this role means the developer also builds the front-end functionality that consumes those APIs and models the data behind them, delivering features end to end rather than handing them off at a boundary. The developer works alongside architects, data engineers, and front-end engineers, and is accountable for the quality of what reaches production.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build the API layer.
•    Design GraphQL schemas that model the domain clearly, including type design, pagination, error handling, and schema evolution that does not break existing consumers.
•    Implement resolvers, batching, and caching with attention to query cost, the N+1 problem, and predictable performance under load.
•    Design and build REST APIs where they are the better fit, including versioning, OpenAPI documentation, and backward compatibility.
•    Implement authentication and authorization at the API layer, including field-level and row-level access control appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.
Deliver features end to end.
•    Build and integrate front-end functionality that consumes the APIs, working in Angular or React against the schemas the developer helped design.
•    Model and query the data behind the API across relational and document stores, and work with data engineers on the shape of what the API exposes.
•    Deploy, instrument, and operate services in the cloud, including logging, tracing, metrics, and alerting.
•    Debug production issues to root cause rather than to a workaround.
Hold the quality bar.
•    Write unit, integration, and contract tests, and keep them meaningful as the schema evolves.
•    Participate in code review as both author and reviewer, with an emphasis on clarity and maintainability.
•    Document API contracts and integration patterns so consuming teams can move without asking.
Contribute to how the team builds.
•    Contribute to technical design discussions, estimation, and the sequencing of work.
•    Improve shared tooling, templates, and standards when something is not working.

Technical Competencies
•    GraphQL at depth, including schema design, resolver implementation, federation or schema stitching, subscriptions, caching, and performance tuning, using Apollo Server, AWS AppSync, or equivalent.
•    API development in one or more of Node.js with TypeScript, Python, Java, or .NET, including REST design, OpenAPI, and event-driven patterns.
•    Front-end development in Angular or React with TypeScript, sufficient to build and integrate the features the API serves.
•    Data modeling and query work across relational stores such as PostgreSQL or Aurora and NoSQL stores such as DynamoDB, including query performance.
•    Cloud and serverless services, including AWS Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, and Cognito or their Azure equivalents, plus containerization and CI/CD.
•    Testing and observability, including unit, integration, and contract testing, structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics.

Education & Experience Requirements
•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
•    Six (6) years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production APIs.
•    Demonstrated experience designing and shipping a GraphQL API consumed by more than one application or team.
•    Demonstrated experience working full stack, including front-end implementation against APIs the developer designed.
•    Experience operating services in a cloud environment, including instrumentation and production debugging.
•    Experience implementing authentication and authorization, including role-based or attribute-based access control.
•    Experience with public sector, SLED (state, local, and education), or higher-education clients preferred, not required.
•    Must physically reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the United States. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is not required.
Certifications
•    No certification required for this role.
•    Cloud certification such as AWS Certified Developer Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate preferred.
