Job Description

TSG - The Sheridan Group seeks a Lead Web Press Operator to manage high-quality print production in our Printing Media department. You will set up, operate, and maintain web press equipment, oversee press crews, troubleshoot mechanical and quality issues, and ensure color accuracy and on-time delivery. Collaborating with account and production teams, you'll translate client specifications into precise press runs. Ideal candidates bring strong technical press expertise, leadership experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor web printing presses for multi-color, high-speed production runs
  • Review job tickets and specifications to ensure accurate setup, materials, and color requirements
  • Perform press make-ready including plate, ink, and substrate preparation and registration adjustments
  • Lead, coordinate, and train press crew members, assigning tasks and monitoring performance
  • Maintain consistent color, registration, and image quality throughout the print run
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and print quality issues, making adjustments to minimize downtime
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor mechanical repairs on presses and auxiliary equipment
  • Collaborate with prepress, finishing, and project management teams to confirm specifications and resolve production issues
  • Track production metrics, document run data, and manage materials to reduce waste
  • Enforce and follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE use, and housekeeping standards
