Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Epic Systems Analyst is responsible for configuring, implementing, supporting, and optimizing assigned Epic Payer Platform applications. This role conducts business and systems analysis, designs and tests Epic solutions, and partners with end users to resolve issues and improve workflows. The position is critical to ensuring reliable, efficient Epic Payer Platform functionality that supports healthcare operations, member experience, and enterprise objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct business and systems analysis to gather requirements, define processes, and document workflows.
  • Design, configure, build, test, implement, and support Epic Payer Platform applications.
  • Partner with end users and stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application, workflow, and system issues.
  • Analyze and document current-state and future-state workflows to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Configure changes within Epic environments to provide standardized, comprehensive workflows.
  • Recommend enterprise-level solutions based on business needs, application capabilities, and available technologies.
  • Research and assess new Epic functionality, technologies, and process-improvement opportunities.
  • Independently manage and contribute to medium-to-large projects, providing timely stakeholder updates.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and solve complex technical and workflow-related issues.
  • Initiate and support continuous process-improvement efforts.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–7+ years of systems administration experience within one or more Epic modules required.
  • Experience performing systems analysis, design, configuration, testing, implementation, and application support required.
  • Experience supporting Epic applications within a healthcare setting required.
  • Healthcare insurance or payer-side experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare, or a related field preferred.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, five years of healthcare industry experience, preferably within the insurance segment, may be considered.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Epic application configuration, implementation, testing, maintenance, and support.
  • Ability to analyze business needs and translate requirements into effective system solutions.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, root-cause analysis, and complex problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities and complete complex assignments.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build effective relationships with end users and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and project-management skills.
  • Knowledge of workflow analysis, process improvement, and enterprise-level solution design.
  • Ability to clearly visualize, articulate, and resolve complex application and operational issues.
  • Additional Desired Characteristics

  • At least five years of experience implementing and supporting Epic Payer Platform solutions.
  • Experience supporting payer, insurance, member-services, or healthcare operations environments.
  • Experience with Epic Payer Platform Core, Payer Platform Member Experience, and/or Tapestry.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve workflows, standardize processes, and enhance user experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
