About You:
You are a motivated and adaptable professional with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for using technology to solve real-world problems. With strong communication skills and a consultative approach, you’re comfortable engaging with clients, understanding their needs, and translating them into effective outcomes.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Ruby Backend Developer to build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.
Key Responsibilities:
You will part of a professional software engineering team helping to build and regularly ship software, some of the projects you may be working on will include;
- Develop and maintain backend applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Work with databases, background jobs, caching, and third-party integrations.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
- Troubleshoot performance and production issues.
- Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.
- Participate in system design and code reviews.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
- Mandatory professional experience with other backend technologies, such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and database optimisation.
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar backend technologies.
- Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong testing experience with RSpec, Minitest, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of Git, software architecture, security, and performance optimisation.
