Project Engineer

I am recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Project/Mechanical Engineer to support a key engineering programme involving the continued lifecycle support of a legacy UK MOD product.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project/Mechanical Engineer to play a pivotal role in an important obsolescence management and documentation project, ensuring a critical high-pressure inert gas supply system remains fully supported for future repair and overhaul activities.

The system was originally designed during the early 1980s and comprises high-pressure gas storage, valves, safety devices, gauges, pipe assemblies and a transportable chassis.

As the successful Project/Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with engineering and customer stakeholders to modernise documentation, remove obsolete components and provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle. The successful Project/Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

Carrying out strip and survey investigations, documenting and photographing existing builds and test activities.<br />Producing detailed assembly procedures and test procedures.<br />Creating and updating maintenance documentation including repair and overhaul procedures and spare parts planning.<br />Managing obsolescence activities across materials and processes, standard mechanical components, seals and consumables.<br />Recording engineering changes and providing clear technical justification for all documentation updates.<br />Assessing product compliance and understanding the impact of obsolescence on existing qualification status.<br />Identifying and documenting any qualification or verification testing required.<br />Updating FMECA documentation and supporting customer documentation as required.<br />Providing project oversight and acting as the primary customer point of contact.<br />Maintaining project plans and delivering regular customer progress updates.<br />Preparing cost estimates and proposals for future phases of work.To be considered for this Project/Mechanical Engineer position you will ideally have:

Previous mechanical engineering and project engineering experience within a regulated engineering environment.<br />Experience supporting legacy products, engineering documentation or obsolescence management activities.<br />The ability to produce technical procedures and maintenance documentation.<br />Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and engineering documentation.<br />Experience working directly with customers and managing project progress.<br />Excellent written and verbal communication skills.<br />The ability to work independently whilst managing multiple technical activities.<br />Current SC Clearance or the ability to successfully obtain SC Clearance.In return my client offers:
