Senior Data Analyst / Power BI Developer with a strong emphasis on data storytelling, finance analytics, and stakeholder engagement. Someone who can transform complex finance, grants, and contracting data into consumable business dashboards while working directly with business users.
Senior Data Analyst (Power BI & Data Visualization)
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analyst to support enterprise data modernization initiatives and the development of executive-level reporting solutions. This individual will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams by transforming complex financial, grants, and operational data into intuitive, actionable dashboards and visualizations.
The ideal candidate is a strong data storyteller who can understand business requirements, develop wireframes and reporting concepts, and leverage Microsoft Power BI to build impactful dashboards that support decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Data Visualization & Dashboard Development

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
• Transform complex datasets into clear, actionable visualizations that support executive and departmental decision-making.
• Develop reporting solutions for finance, budgeting, grants management, contracts, and operational performance metrics.
• Create visualizations that effectively communicate trends, risks, opportunities, and key business insights.

Business Engagement & Requirements Gathering

• Partner directly with business leaders, finance teams, and program stakeholders to gather requirements and understand reporting needs.
• Facilitate discussions to identify KPIs, metrics, reporting objectives, and dashboard functionality.
• Translate business requirements and wireframes into technical specifications and reporting solutions.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders regarding data presentation and visualization best practices.

Data Analysis & Storytelling

• Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover meaningful trends and opportunities.
• Develop compelling data narratives that help business users understand the story behind the data.
• Provide recommendations and actionable insights based on data analysis.
• Ensure reports are designed to drive engagement and informed decision-making.

Power BI Development

• Build and optimize Power BI datasets, reports, dashboards, and data models.
• Develop DAX calculations, measures, KPIs, and advanced reporting functionality.
• Work with source systems and data teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Optimize report performance and user experience.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with IT, finance, program management, and leadership teams.
• Support data modernization initiatives and enterprise reporting strategies.
• Contribute to dashboard standards, governance, and reporting best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting.
• 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Power BI development experience.
• Advanced knowledge of:
  • Power BI
  • DAX
  • Power Query
  • Data Modeling
  • SQL
• Experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to translate technical information into business-friendly insights.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting finance, budgeting, grants, or contract management functions.
• Experience creating executive dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Familiarity with wireframing and dashboard design principles.
• Experience working within public sector, healthcare, or government organizations.
• Experience supporting enterprise data modernization initiatives.
