Job Summary: B&A is looking for a systems Administrator to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. The System Administrator will provide hands-on administration and technical support for classified infrastructure, including Windows workstations, servers, Active Directory, and security compliance tools. This role requires experience supporting secure environments, conducting vulnerability and compliance assessments, monitoring audit activity, and maintaining system baselines in accordance with government security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the Open Storage Area (OSA) environment.
  • Troubleshoot workstation, server, and user-related technical issues.
  • Install, configure, update, and patch operating systems and software.
  • Provide end-user technical support and resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and operational stability.
  • Coordinate hardware maintenance, replacement, and lifecycle activities.
  • Unlock disabled or locked user accounts.
  • Perform password resets and account maintenance activities.
  • Administer Active Directory user and group accounts.
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts based on approved requests.
  • Review user accounts for inactivity, authorization, and compliance.
  • Conduct recurring Nessus vulnerability scans.
  • Review, document, and track vulnerability findings through remediation.
  • Perform SCAP and STIG compliance assessments.
  • Implement required security patches, updates, and STIG configurations.
  • Review audit logs for suspicious activity, security events, and policy violations.
  • Escalate security incidents and concerns to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Support Continuous Monitoring (CONMON) activities and security reporting requirements.
  • Review and analyze Windows audit logs and EventSentry logs.
  • Monitor privileged user account activity.
  • Investigate unusual system behavior and security events.
  • Verify audit logging and monitoring functions remain operational.
  • Support Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) inspections, audits, and assessments.
  • Maintain approved system configurations and security baselines.
  • Document hardware, software, and configuration changes.
  • Support Security Impact Analyses (SIAs).
  • Assist with Configuration Control Board (CCB) processes and activities.
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory records.
  • Coordinate approved media transfers with designated Data Transfer Agents (DTAs).
  • Ensure compliance with approved transfer procedures and security policies.
  • Support media scanning, handling, and accountability processes.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills

  • Experience administering Windows-based systems in secure or classified environments.
  • Experience with Active Directory administration and account management.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management processes and tools, including Nessus.
  • Experience conducting SCAP and STIG compliance assessments.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, auditing, logging, and continuous monitoring.
  • Experience troubleshooting workstation and server issues.
  • Ability to document configurations, changes, and technical procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or other classified government environments.
  • Familiarity with RMF (Risk Management Framework) requirements.
  • Experience supporting DCSA inspections and security assessments.
  • Knowledge of Configuration Management and Change Control processes.
  • Security+ or comparable DoD 8570/8140-compliant certification.
  • Experience with EventSentry, enterprise monitoring tools, and security audit platforms.
Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
