Job Description

Senior Algo Trader: Market Making & Arbitrage (Tokenised Metals) | Crypto

Location: London / Europe

Package: [Base + performance-linked bonus]

Type: Permanent

I'm working with a well-funded, fast-growing digital assets business building on-chain market infrastructure, including tokenised real-world assets. They're hiring a hands-on trader who can build and run their trading systems and own the P&L. This is a rare chance to build from the ground up and take real ownership.

The role

  1. Build and run algorithmic arbitrage between tokenised metals and their liquid TradFi futures, owning the P&L and improving performance with a trader's eye
  2. Market-make metals hedged in the physical market, managing quotes and inventory to keep rebalancing to a minimum
  3. Act as the main point of contact for external market-making partners supporting the firm's native token liquidity across spot and perp exchanges, and help decide which functions to bring in-house over time
  4. Lead the trading side of an on-chain RFQ solver as it matures, directing specialist blockchain engineers who built the underlying tech
  5. Pursue further arbitrage and trading opportunities across markets as they arise

The technical side

There's no dedicated quant dev team behind this seat. You'll build and own the trading infrastructure yourself:

  1. Exchange connectivity and connectors
  2. Data collection, storage and management
  3. Order and portfolio management systems
  4. Execution logic and signal generation
  5. Reporting and P&L monitoring
  6. Deployment, monitoring and uptime

You won't be isolated. The wider engineering group provides foundations such as AI tooling, and Solidity and blockchain specialists handle the low-level on-chain work. The trading systems are yours.

What you'll bring

  1. Hands-on experience running algorithmic market making or arbitrage with real risk and P&L ownership, ideally at a crypto market maker
  2. Strong Python, with a track record of building trading systems yourself. A quant developer who moved into trading would be an ideal background
  3. A solid understanding of order book dynamics and execution
  4. Strong quantitative grounding, with a focus on robust execution and inventory management
  5. Comfort working autonomously in a small, business-focused team

Nice to have

  1. Rust experience, or genuine curiosity about it
  2. Commodities experience, especially metals
  3. Sell-side background on an electronic FX or commodities desk (bank or broker) before moving into crypto
  4. Experience at a crypto market maker or liquidity-as-a-service provider
  5. Interest in on-chain markets and DeFi

Why this role

  1. Genuine ownership of both strategy and infrastructure, with no layers between you and the P&L
  2. A new, growing product line at the intersection of TradFi and on-chain markets
  3. Strong engineering support around you without the constraint of a rigid, siloed structure
  4. Scope to shape which trading functions get built in-house
