J. Blanton Plumbing is seeking an experienced Excavation Field Manager to oversee our growing Sewer & Drain excavation operations. This position will be responsible for managing approximately 5 excavation crews, overseeing active jobs, coordinating equipment, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
We're looking for a strong field leader who understands excavation, underground utilities, sewer work, and how to keep multiple crews and projects moving. This is an opportunity to take your field experience into a leadership role with a rapidly growing company.
What You'll Do
• Manage and oversee approximately 5 excavation crews
• Coordinate daily crew assignments, job schedules, and project priorities
• Visit active jobsites to monitor progress, quality, safety, and productivity
• Ensure excavation and sewer projects are completed on schedule and according to company standards
• Coordinate equipment, trucks, materials, and resources across multiple crews
• Monitor equipment condition and ensure necessary maintenance and repairs are addressed
• Troubleshoot jobsite issues and provide solutions to keep projects moving
• Train, coach, and hold crew members accountable for performance and safety
• Work closely with project managers, operations leadership, and other departments
• Ensure crews follow OSHA and company safety procedures
• Maintain accurate job and equipment records
• Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, production, and profitability
• Assist with hiring and developing excavation team members as the department continues to grow
• 5+ years of excavation, sewer, underground utility, or related field experience
• Previous experience leading crews or managing excavation projects
• Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, underground sewer work, and jobsite safety
• Experience managing multiple crews or projects at the same time
• Strong equipment knowledge and experience coordinating heavy equipment
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems in the field
• Ability to work outdoors and travel between jobsites
• Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing residential sewer or excavation projects
• Experience operating or supervising the use of excavators and other heavy equipment
• OSHA 10, OSHA 20, or OSHA 30
• Competent Person Certification
• CDL is a plus
