Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve Workday integrations with benefits, retirement, payroll, and other external providers.
  • Perform end-to-end analysis of employee lifecycle and benefits-related transactions, including hires, transfers, promotions, job changes, compensation changes, payroll events, terminations, and other transactions impacting eligibility, enrollment, contributions, or reporting.
  • Investigate data discrepancies and determine root causes across Workday configuration, benefit plan setup, integration logic, data mapping, transformation rules, processing timing, provider-side processing, or expected system behavior.
  • Review inbound and outbound integration files, reports, logs, Workday transactions, integration events, provider responses, and other technical artifacts to identify the source of issues.
  • Partner with Benefits, Retirement, Payroll, and HR subject matter experts to understand business requirements, eligibility rules, expected outcomes, and downstream impacts.
  • Collaborate with Workday functional teams, integration developers, technical teams, benefits providers, vendors, and business stakeholders to validate findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Translate complex technical and functional findings into clear business requirements, root-cause documentation, and recommended resolutions.
  • Distinguish between system defects, data issues, configuration gaps, integration issues, and scenarios where the system is functioning as designed but the resulting behavior was not previously understood.
  • Perform impact analysis for changes to employee, benefits, payroll, retirement, and eligibility-related processes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain end-to-end data flow diagrams illustrating how employee, payroll, retirement, and benefits data moves between Workday and external systems.
  • Support issue prioritization, defect tracking, testing, validation, and production stabilization activities.
  • Identify recurring issues and trends and recommend process, configuration, data, or integration improvements to prevent future incidents.
  • Prepare clear technical and functional documentation, including process flows, data mappings, business rules, root-cause analyses, and resolution procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst supporting HCM/ERP implementations, integrations, production stabilization, or complex enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience analyzing and troubleshooting business processes and transactions across multiple systems.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing integration data, data mappings, transformation rules, logs, reports, files, interfaces, or similar technical artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of employee lifecycle, HR, benefits, payroll, or related enterprise business processes.
  • Ability to trace data and transactions end-to-end across multiple applications and identify the point of failure or discrepancy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform structured root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to translate business requirements and questions into detailed functional and technical investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously, identify patterns, coordinate across teams, and drive issues through resolution.
  • Strong documentation skills, including requirements, process flows, data mappings, issue analysis, and functional specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday, particularly HCM, Benefits, Payroll, and integrations.
  • Experience supporting integrations between Workday and benefits providers, retirement systems, pension administrators, insurance carriers, payroll vendors, or other external partners.
  • Experience with retirement or pension administration, including plan eligibility, contribution processing, retirement benefits, or related ERP configuration.
  • Familiarity with Workday integration technologies, APIs, web services, middleware, integration platforms, XML, JSON, flat-file integrations, and data transformation concepts.
  • Experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, or other Workday integration technologies.
  • Experience analyzing integration failures, rejected transactions, data validation errors, and downstream provider processing issues.
  • Experience supporting Workday or another enterprise ERP platform through implementation, post-go-live stabilization, production support, or continuous improvement.
  • Experience creating data flow diagrams, interface specifications, mapping documents, and technical/functional process documentation.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, defect management, testing processes, and enterprise application support.
