Job Title: BMS / IoT Integration Engineer – Smart Buildings

Introduction

We are seeking a Technical Configuration Engineer with hands-on experience in Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS), building automation, smart buildings, and IoT integrations to support a multi-site smart building implementation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of technical configuration, BMS/data integration, troubleshooting, and field deployment experience. This is a remote-first role, with travel to customer/building sites required periodically for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform per-site configuration of Kode OS in a remote-first implementation environment.
• Support on-site Nook installation, configuration, commissioning, and validation.
• Onboard and configure building data sources and integrations.
• Perform data source mapping, validation, and historical data backfill configuration.
• Configure and support On → Energy module integration.
• Perform Tier-2 troubleshooting of BMS, IoT, connectivity, integration, and data-related issues.
• Troubleshoot building data and integration issues across landlord- and customer-managed BMS environments.
• Design and implement practical BMS integration workarounds when standard integrations are not available or feasible.
• Validate end-to-end connectivity and data flow from building systems through the IoT platform.
• Support system commissioning and deployment activities at customer sites.
• Work with controls contractors, building engineers, landlords, facility teams, and internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Document site configurations, integration details, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
• Provide on-site technical support as required during deployments and implementation activities.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in BMS/BAS, building automation, controls engineering, building systems integration, or building IoT.
• Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Building Management Systems / Building Automation Systems.
• Experience with IoT platforms, smart building technologies, or building data integrations.
• Experience with data source onboarding, mapping, integration, or validation.
• Strong Tier-2 troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience supporting technical deployments and commissioning activities.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across hardware, software, connectivity, and building-system integrations.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kode OS.
• Experience with Nook installation and deployment.
• Experience with On → Energy or energy-management integrations.
• Knowledge of common BMS/controls protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, or REST APIs.
• Experience integrating with landlord-managed BMS/BAS systems.
• Experience with commercial buildings, smart spaces, energy management, or building analytics.
• Experience with multi-site IoT implementations.
• Experience working with building controls contractors and facility/engineering teams.
