About Us
We are a specialist engineering company operating in a niche and exciting sector, providing advanced safety surveillance systems to government and aviation clients throughout the UK and internationally.
Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a Safety Surveillance Systems Field Engineer to join our team, supporting customer installations primarily across Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with sophisticated surveillance technologies in a unique industry, with full product and system training provided.
The Role
The successful candidate will be home-based, with primary responsibility for supporting our sites throughout Scotland. Occasional travel elsewhere in the UK will be required for training, customer support and engineering cover.
The position would suit a technically minded individual with strong problem-solving abilities and the confidence to build and maintain effective customer relationships.
Our safety surveillance systems typically comprise:
- Radar systems
- High-power imaging systems
- Safety transponder systems
- PC-based platforms
- TCP/IP network infrastructure
- Long-range wireless (WLAN) communications links of up to 5km
Following training and familiarisation, the role is typically split approximately 50:50 between field-based and home-office activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventative maintenance and inspection of customer systems.
- Reactive fault diagnosis and repair.
- Supporting radar, networking and surveillance equipment.
- Maintaining customer relationships and delivering a high level of technical support.
- Completing service documentation and reporting.
- Responding to occasional evening and weekend call-outs to meet contractual obligations and customer requirements.
Average working hours are 35 hours per week.
Skills & Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Electrical engineering
- Electronic engineering
- Mechanical engineering
- CCTV systems
- Radar systems
- Radio communications
- IT networking and TCP/IP systems
- Wireless network infrastructure
- Security systems
- Renewable Systems (Solar, Wind, DC-DC)
Experience in electronic fault-finding and component-level repair would also be beneficial.
Full training will be provided; therefore, candidates with a background in electrical, electronic, networking or security engineering who possess strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements
The role requires candidates who are:
- Comfortable working at height.
- Capable of climbing fixed, temporary and natural structures where required.
- Able to maintain the necessary competency certifications and annual revalidation requirements.
- Willing to undergo periodic medical assessments where required.
Entry Level Applicants
We are also keen to hear from exceptional HNC/HND students, recent graduates, or individuals starting their engineering careers who can demonstrate strong practical and technical ability.
Security Requirements
Due to the nature of our clients and projects, applicants must be capable of obtaining and maintaining UK Security Clearance throughout their employment.
As a result, this position is restricted to UK nationals.
