Job Description
Our client is a Refinery which is located on the east coast of England in North Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. The Humber facility includes crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, hydrodesulfurization, thermal cracking and delayed coking units. The refinery has two coking units with associated calcining plants.
This is the only coking refinery in the United Kingdom, and a producer of high-quality specialty graphite and anode-grade petroleum cokes. The refinery also produces a high percentage of transportation fuels.
The majority of the light oils produced by the refinery are distributed to customers in the United Kingdom by pipeline, railcar and truck, while the other refined petroleum products are exported throughout the world.<br /><br />They are currently seeking a skilled and experience Civil and Structural Engineer to join their team on a temporary basis initially covering 12 months.<br /><br />JOB DESCRIPTION<br />- Act as 'Discipline Adviser' implementing policy & discipline expertise for the refinery. <br />- Promote a best practice, common learning & knowledge spreading culture within the discipline. <br />- Implement sustainable Systems & Controlled Procedures to ensure discipline quality & compliance. <br />- Provide Discipline input into all stages of Project development, (i.e.
FEL, design assurance, procurement, RIDIT input). <br />- Provide MOC Discipline guidance and direction.<br />- Act as Discipline contact & approver of 'changes' being managed through the 'Live Link MOC System'. <br />- Ensure alignment with new Discipline legislation, driving company awareness and requirements. <br />- Communicate & review & implement the discipline standards. <br />- Attend & proactively input into Discipline Meetings. <br />- Be aware of up-to-date technologies and assess capabilities & future company use<br />- Develop and implement surveys and inspection program, covering, superstructures, stacks, silos, secondary containment structures, drains, sump, pits, road, rail track, fireproofing.<br />- Liaise with consultants and specialists to develop specific solutions for projects, (small, medium, and large), maintenance and turnaround. <br />- Liaise with plant owner to gather information for the development of specific solutions.<br />- Provide Discipline input into RCA's, as required. <br />- Act as a Discipline engineer contact for site & maintenance issues. <br />- Aid in the development of maintenance strategies. <br />- Aid in definition of discipline 'risk' areas & development of strategies <br /><br />THE CANDIDATE<br />- BEng or Master's degree in engineering, or relevant discipline <br />- IT literate with experience of AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel & Word<br />- Advantageous but nor essential, Charter or working toward Chartership with a recognised organisation, ICE, IStructE<br />- Be proficient in all, or most, of the aspects of Civil & Structural engineering techniques. <br />- Design experience is essential. <br />- Experience with specific structural and civil engineering design software is required, e.g Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, Stadd.Pro, Graitec, SAP2000… <br />- Proficient in AutoCAD, conversant with Advance Steel, Navisworks <br />- Experience in the implementation and design of temporary works solution, e.g. superlifts, temporary support for retrofitting of new equipment utilising existing structures, design scaffold supports, deep excavations.<br />- Chartered Structural or Civil Engineer (Or actively working towards chartered status) <br />- Demonstrated technical expertise (to recognised professional level or equivalent). <br />- Excellent communicator and presenter. <br />- Wide industry / discipline knowledge and contacts. <br />- Highly customer focussed. <br />- Understands role and uses expertise to contribute to business improvement <br />- Ability to manage conflicting priorities. <br />- Decision maker & motivator<br /> <br />THE CONSULTANCY:<br />Edwards & Pearce acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
