Job Description

Our story:

Every year millions of people are either filing their taxes in fear or giving up on their tax refund altogether. We're working on fixing that. Our intuitive app enables anyone, regardless of education or background, to file their taxes with newfound confidence.

Spread across Germany, Spain and the UK, the team at Taxfix Group with its brands Taxfix and Steuerbot, is a compassionate group of solution-finders. We speak our minds openly, and with over 400 professionals, including tax experts, developers, and IT security experts, we're rich in ideas and voices. The group has facilitated more than 3.5 billion euros in tax refunds for its customers since its founding in 2016.

Your challenge

As our Senior Finance Operations Leader – Accounting, you will lead the accounting and treasury organisation behind Taxfix’s growing multi-country business.

Your focus will be on creating reliable, scalable and well-controlled finance operations across Group and statutory accounting, month-end and year-end close, consolidation, audit readiness, treasury and core Record-to-Report processes.

You will lead an experienced team, establish clear priorities and ownership, and ensure that our accounting organisation delivers accurate and timely financial information. At the same time, you will continuously improve how the team works through stronger processes, documentation and pragmatic automation.

Tax and Finance Systems Transformation are managed separately. You will collaborate closely with these teams where their work intersects with accounting and treasury, but they are not part of your direct remit.

Your team

You will lead an experienced Finance Operations team responsible for areas such as:

  • Group and statutory accounting

  • Month-end and year-end close

  • Consolidation and financial reporting

  • Record-to-Report processes

  • Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash accounting interfaces

  • Intercompany accounting and reconciliations

  • Treasury and cash management

  • Audit preparation and accounting controls

The team has already established important foundations, including NetSuite as the group-wide ERP and a strong track record of successful external audits.

Your role is to provide clear leadership, prioritisation and execution discipline while helping the team develop and scale sustainably.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the Finance Operations team, creating clear priorities, responsibilities and development opportunities.

  • Own the timely and accurate execution of monthly and annual close processes across the Taxfix Group.

  • Oversee statutory and Group accounting under HGB and support IFRS and consolidated reporting requirements.

  • Ensure accounting quality across multiple legal entities in Germany, Spain and the UK.

  • Strengthen financial controls, reconciliations, process documentation and audit readiness.

  • Act as the primary operational contact for external auditors, banks and accounting advisors.

  • Establish effective review routines, escalation paths and performance standards across the accounting organisation.

  • Improve the reliability and scalability of Record-to-Report and the accounting components of Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash.

  • Oversee day-to-day treasury operations, including cash visibility, liquidity planning, banking relationships and related financial controls.

  • Ensure clear ownership and reliable processes across treasury, intercompany activities and cash-related reconciliations.

  • Collaborate with the separate Tax team on relevant accounting dependencies, without owning Tax compliance, Tax strategy or the Tax organisation.

  • Partner with the Finance Systems Transformation team on NetSuite improvements, integrations, reporting quality and automation opportunities.

  • Identify and implement pragmatic process and automation improvements that reduce manual work and improve accuracy.

  • Provide accounting and treasury input into selected business initiatives, new products and operational changes.

  • Maintain transparency with the CFO and senior Finance leadership regarding financial risks, bottlenecks, team capacity and operational priorities.

  • Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement and high-quality execution.

Your profile

  • Significant hands-on experience in accounting or controllership, including ownership of month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Strong knowledge of HGB and practical experience with statutory financial statements.

  • Solid understanding of IFRS, consolidation and multi-entity Group reporting.

  • Strong operational finance experience across accounting, close, reporting and treasury, including cash management, liquidity planning and banking processes.

  • Experience leading accounting professionals or a small-to-mid-sized Finance Operations team.

  • The ability to build credibility with experienced specialists while remaining close enough to the details to make sound decisions.

  • Experience working in an international, multi-entity organisation.

  • A strong understanding of accounting processes, internal controls, reconciliations and audit requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience making finance operations more reliable, structured, documented or scalable.

  • Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience would be a plus.

  • A pragmatic approach to technology and automation: you understand where tooling can create leverage and where strong process foundations are required first.

  • Confident communication with senior stakeholders, auditors, banks, advisors and cross-functional partners.

  • A structured and calm leadership style, particularly during close, audits and periods of organisational change.

  • Strong ownership, sound judgement and the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment.

  • Fluent in German and English.

Why this role

This is an opportunity to lead and strengthen the accounting and treasury backbone of a growing, international fintech.

You will join an experienced team with established systems while still having meaningful scope to improve processes, controls, collaboration and ways of working.

Rather than owning every Finance function, you will have a focused mandate: building reliable and scalable Finance Operations that support Taxfix’s next stage of growth.

Why Taxfix?

  • A chance to do meaningful, people-centric work with an international team of passionate professionals.

  • Holistic well-being with free mental health coaching sessions.

  • A monthly allowance to spend on an extensive range of services that you can use and roll over as flexibly as you like.

  • Employee stock options for all employees—because everyone deserves to benefit from the success they help to create.

  • 30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours.

  • A generous learning budget to support your personal and professional development and guidance from our internal L&D experts.

  • Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. Just align with your team, and then enjoy your trip.

  • Plenty of opportunities to socialise as a team. In addition to internal meetups, our international team hosts regular get-togethers—virtually and in person when possible.

  • Free tax declaration filing, of course, through the Taxfix app—and internal support for all personal tax-related questions.

  • Have a four-legged friend in your life? We’re happy to have dogs join us in the office.
