Building Automation Systems Engineer with Security Clearance

SUMMARY: The BAS Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, upgrading and optimization of the building automation systems (BAS) that control and monitor a building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to include heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, and energy management. The BAS Engineer will manage and track all service contracts, projects and repairs to the BAS. The BAS Engineer will ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of these systems, contributing to energy savings, comfort, and safety for DOS building occupants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation systems controlling HVAC, lighting, and energy management to sustain reliable building operations.
• Perform system upgrades, software updates, and calibration of BAS controllers, sensors, and field devices to maintain optimal performance.\
• Manage and track all BAS related service contracts, projects, and repairs, coordinating with vendors and contractors as needed.
• Diagnose and resolve system malfunctions, alarms, and operational issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.\
• Develop and implement energy management strategies to reduce consumption and support building efficiency goals.
• Maintain accurate records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and repair histories.
• Collaborate with facilities staff, engineers, and DOS personnel to support building comfort, safety, and code compliance. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
• Bachelors of Science in related field
• Must be manufacturer trained on the Building Automation System(s) installed.
• Training Certificates required
• Minimum 10 years of experience in BAS Engineering Services or facility operations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed indoors with some potential risks to safety and health hazards related to electronics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May require lifting up to 25 pounds.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE: DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. ADDITONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
