Job Description

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Wireless Communications Algorithm Engineer to advance next-generation systems in our Engineering & Design Department. In this role, you will design, simulate, and optimize cutting-edge wireless and RF communication algorithms that support mission-critical applications in national security, space exploration, and health. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to prototype, analyze, and transition innovative solutions. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement wireless communication algorithms for next-generation systems
  • Simulate, test, and optimize PHY/MAC-layer algorithms in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++Analyze RF channel performance and link budgets to improve reliability and throughput
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on prototypes and system integration
  • Document technical designs, results, and trade studies for sponsors and stakeholders
  • Contribute to research publications, proposals, and presentations in wireless communications
