Wood is recruiting for a Senior Electrical & Instrument Engineer with field/maintenance experience to join its Operations Oceania business, supporting a major Oil & Gas brownfields Engineering Service Contract. This is a permanent, full time position based in Brisbane, with ad hoc travel to Darwin required to support client operations and project activities.

Reporting to the Client's Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering support for a Major Hazard Facility, working closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams. While based in Brisbane, you will be expected to undertake periodic travel to Darwin to support site activities, investigations, stakeholder engagement and project delivery. It is expected that you will be on site (Darwin DLNG) one week every month.
This role combines office based engineering support with hands on site engagement, requiring flexibility to respond to operational priorities and client needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide independent Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering support to site operations, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and asset integrity
- Respond to E&I technical issues escalated from Maintenance and Operations
- Support Return to Plan activities, contributing to production loss response and recovery
- Identify, assess, and manage risks within the IRR system through to close out
- Prepare and deliver Management of Change (MOC) documentation for like for like and like for kind changes, supporting more complex MOCs as required
- Apply Major Hazard Facility requirements, ensuring compliance with Safety Cases and Performance Standards
- Liaise with Perth based Technical Authorities and engineering teams to maintain governance and alignment

Expected:
You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location.
Suitably qualified in Electrical, Controls or Electronics Engineering from a recognised institution, you will bring a minimum of 5+ years' experience in Electrical or I&C Engineering within the Oil & Gas industry, ideally supporting maintenance activities in O&G facilities in Australia.
What will set you apart?
You are Brisbane or Darwin based (or willing to relocate) and enjoy balancing office based engineering with periodic travel to operational sites.
- Strong Electrical Engineering or I&C Engineering experience supporting Operations and Maintenance in an operating facility
- Availability and willingness to travel to Darwin on an ad hoc basis to support client operations and project requirements
- Hazardous Area (EEHA) competency (mandatory); FSA certification is advantageous
- Demonstrated experience within a Major Hazard Facility and understanding of Safety Cases, Performance Standards and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across geographically dispersed teams
- A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to adapt to changing operational priorities
