Job Description

One of our clients in New Jersey, is looking for a Sr. Data Center Specialist / Architect.

 

Client Note: This is a remote project, hence, client expects 1-2 visits per month onsite.

Duration: 3-6 months

Hourly: $90 - $100 per hour (1099/C2C)

 

Position Overview

The Datacenter Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of datacenter technology environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and build datacenter technology environments, including layout, equipment selection, and integration of critical systems.
  2. Assess and define technology requirements for datacenters, covering network architecture, logical separation, OT security, and capacity planning.
  3. Implement and manage physical and network security measures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
  4. Oversee the deployment and maintenance of Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and Cooling/CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) units.
  5. Develop and enforce logical separation and segmentation of networks to safeguard sensitive data and support secure operations.
  6. Collaborate with IT and security teams to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize datacenter performance and reliability.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and building datacenter environments (IT, infrastructure, and security).
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, logical separation, and security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with PDUs, UPS, CRAC units, and other datacenter critical systems.
  • Expertise in physical and network security protocols, including access control and monitoring systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA, Data Center Management, Security).
  • Experience with datacenter automation, monitoring, and management tools.
  • Experience with building and managing a minimum of 5 datacenters
  • Experience with assessing the requirements and developing a BOM
  • Experience and knowledge about PDU, UPS, CRAC Units
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO, NIST, PCI DSS, Purdue Model, ISA 112).

 

Work Environment

This position operates within mission-critical datacenter environments and requires occasional on-site visits as well as remote collaboration with IT and security teams. The Datacenter Specialist must be able to respond to incidents promptly and ensure high availability and security of all systems.
