Manager, Full Stack Development – Python / Go / Java, AWS (Healthcare Claims)

About the opportunity

Our client is a technology consulting and delivery firm serving major US health plans. They are hiring Engineering Managers to lead full stack teams building highly available, distributed claims systems on AWS. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will guide architecture and code quality, grow your engineers, and work directly with client stakeholders.

What you'll do

• Lead one or more full stack engineering teams of Technical Leads and Engineers
• Guide design and development of distributed claims services in Python and Go or Java on AWS and Kubernetes
• Run technical design reviews and set coding and architecture standards
• Drive automation across CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, testing and operations
• Own delivery commitments, risks and escalations for your teams
• Hire, mentor and develop engineers
• Lead your team's adoption of AI-assisted development

What you'll bring

• 10+ years of software engineering, including 5+ years in engineering leadership
• Expert-level Python plus Go or Java
• Deep hands-on AWS experience, including containers on EKS / Kubernetes
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals: fault tolerance, messaging (Kafka, SQS/SNS) and data partitioning
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible) and CI/CD
• Experience with hiring, performance management and team building
• Clear communication with client and executive stakeholders
• Daily use of AI development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and working knowledge of LLM patterns such as RAG, embeddings and MCP
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

• US health plan / payer experience: claims, enrollment, benefits, HIPAA
• Red Hat OpenShift experience
• Node.js
• HL7, FHIR or X12 EDI
• Consulting or professional services background
