Important screening note: Candidates should have current/recent PTC Creo experience. Creo proficiency is a core requirement and should be prioritized during candidate screening.

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer II to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will help resolve complex engineering challenges and contribute to the design and development of next-generation printing products and mechanisms. This position requires recent, hands-on experience with PTC Creo 3D CAD, advanced expertise in plastic injection molded part design, and a strong understanding of high-volume Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles. The ideal candidate will have experience designing high-precision mechanical components, printer mechanisms, and drive trains while collaborating with global manufacturing partners to bring products from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the mechanical design of new products from customer requirements and concept development through production release and final packaging.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using PTC Creo.
  • Design and develop high-precision printer mechanisms, drive trains, and related components.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize designs for production efficiency, cost, quality, and reliability in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Design and analyze complex injection molded plastic parts, ensuring robust performance and efficient tooling and manufacturing outcomes.
  • Engineer and develop components utilizing plastic injection molding, precision sheet metal, die cast, and machined part technologies.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses and validation activities to ensure product performance and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate directly with global JDM/manufacturing partners to support tooling development, streamline schedules, and resolve production challenges.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including industrial design, electrical engineering, quality, and manufacturing to deliver integrated product solutions.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate design performance, durability, and reliability.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years of professional mechanical design experience.
  • Recent and significant hands-on experience with PTC Creo 3D CAD (required).
  • Proven experience designing injection molded plastic components.
  • Strong understanding of high-volume Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis and engineering validation activities.
  • Experience designing components manufactured through plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, die casting, and machining processes.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanism and drive train design.
  • Experience designing printer, electromechanical, or precision mechanical products.
  • Experience designing ruggedized products for harsh environments.
  • Advanced expertise in plastic injection molding design using PTC Creo.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and product lifecycle considerations.
  • Experience working directly with global manufacturing, supplier, or JDM partners.
