Quick overview
Job description
The Nightlife Controls Senior Analyst is a hands-on, detail-oriented financial-controls role that supports the Nightlife Controller in monitoring, validating, and reporting on financially significant activity across Wynn Las Vegas Nightlife venues.
Working under the direction of the Nightlife Controller, the Senior Analyst independently performs recurring transaction reviews and exception monitoring, observes venue processes through surveillance footage and other monitoring tools, and supports the calculation and validation of payroll, tips, and commissions. The role also helps confirm that Nightlife payments are processed through approved company systems and supports the Controller with P&L reporting and variance research.
The Senior Analyst is expected to work through assigned reviews with limited day-to-day direction, perform first-level analysis, and bring documented findings and recommendations to the Controller. The Controller retains responsibility for final conclusions, further escalation, and overall oversight.
Why This Role Exists
Nightlife is a high-volume, fast-paced, cash- and comp-intensive business that generates a significant volume of financially relevant transactions every operating night.
Effective oversight of that activity depends on consistent, detailed review at the transaction level, along with timely follow-up on exceptions.
This role exists to provide consistent day-to-day monitoring of Nightlife financial activity, support accurate and policy-aligned compensation and payment processes, identify unusual or unsupported transactions, and give the Controller reliable analysis for reporting and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Review & Exception Monitoring
- Independently perform recurring reviews of transaction-level activity and transaction registers to identify unusual, incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially noncompliant activity
- Perform recurring monitoring and exception reviews of point-of-sale activity, including comps, voids, discounts, adjustments, and open checks or open items
- Review comp activity against established authorization requirements and applicable limits, and research transactions that appear inconsistent with approved practices
- Track open items through resolution, following up with the appropriate parties and elevating items that remain unresolved
- Recommend refinements to monitoring procedures, review criteria, and exception thresholds based on observed results
Payroll, Tip & Commission Support
- Calculate or validate tip pools, gratuity and service charge distributions, host and VIP commissions, and other variable compensation in accordance with approved policies, agreements, and established methodologies, as directed by the Controller
- Reconcile compensation calculations to point-of-sale sales, service charges, timekeeping, and payroll data before submission; research and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and maintain clear supporting documentation for each payroll, tip, and commission cycle so calculations can be reviewed, approved, and traced back to source data
- Coordinate with Payroll, Nightlife Operations, and Finance on submission timing, adjustments, and questions, under the direction of the Controller
Payment Controls
- Review Nightlife-related payments—including commissions, promoter, talent, and vendor-related payments—to confirm they are processed through approved company systems with appropriate authorization and supporting documentation
- Identify and escalate payments made outside the system, outside established approval requirements, or without adequate support
- Maintain trackers and records of payment reviews, exceptions, and resolutions
- Support the Controller in documenting and reinforcing payment procedures
Process Observation & Validation
- Perform venue and process observations, primarily through review of surveillance footage and other monitoring tools, to validate whether established procedures and financial controls are being followed
- Compare observed activity to transaction records, system information, supporting documentation, and established procedures
- Validate specific transactions and events selected by the Controller, such as comp authorizations, bottle deliveries, check settlements, and voids
- Coordinate with Nightlife Investigations and other departments as needed and as directed by the Controller
- Perform in-venue observations when requested by the Controller
Financial Reporting and P&L Support
- Prepare recurring schedules, reconciliations, and supporting analysis for monthly Nightlife financial reporting and the Controller’s monthly Nightlife Controls Report
- Research unusual P&L items and variances identified by the Controller, tracing them to transaction-level detail and summarizing findings
- Perform trend analysis on revenue, comp, payroll, and monitoring results to help identify patterns that may indicate a process or control weakness
- Support the Controller with ad hoc projects, analysis, and venue reopening and ongoing venue-control activities as needed
Documentation, Escalation & Coordination
- Document observations, exceptions, calculations, and follow-up items in a clear, objective, and organized manner, including preliminary assessments and recommendations for the Controller’s review
- Escalate unusual activity and potential control issues to the Nightlife Controller promptly
- Maintain trackers, working files, and supporting records for monitoring, compensation, payment, and reporting activities
- Handle sensitive information—including employee compensation, guest, and transaction details—with professionalism and confidentiality
- Work with Nightlife Operations, Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Compliance, Investigations, Inventory Control, IT, and other departments as needed, under the direction of the Controller
- Refer matters that may require investigative, disciplinary, or security action to the Controller for appropriate routing
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, hospitality management, or a related field
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in hospitality or casino finance, revenue audit, payroll, accounting support, internal controls, or nightlife or food-and-beverage operations with significant financial or transaction-review responsibilities
- Experience performing calculations, reconciliations, or reviews that tie operational activity to financial or payroll records
- Working understanding of how revenue, comps, payroll, and other operating activity flow into a departmental P&L
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, conditional formulas, and working with large data sets
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and transaction processing
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize when information or activity does not appear consistent, complete, or properly supported
- Ability to manage recurring, deadline-driven work—such as payroll and month-end cycles—accurately and on time
- Ability to work independently with limited day-to-day direction, prioritize competing assignments, and follow established procedures
- Ability to document findings and communicate questions, issues, and recommendations clearly
- Ability to work outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses or work cards applicable to the position
Preferred
- Experience calculating or reviewing tips, gratuities, service charges, or commissions in a casino, hospitality, or nightlife environment
- Experience supporting monthly financial reporting
- Familiarity with payroll, timekeeping, procurement, or ERP systems, as well as systems for inventory management, surveillance, or transaction monitoring
- Experience in a Las Vegas Strip or comparable premium hospitality environment
- Familiarity with nightlife or food-and-beverage operations, including comps, bottle service, and check settlement
Working Conditions
Work is performed in both a standard office environment and Nightlife venues. The position requires extended periods of computer use, including review of transaction data, system reports, payroll and compensation data, and surveillance footage, and involves recurring deadline-driven work tied to payroll and month-end reporting cycles. Because Nightlife venues operate primarily during late nights and weekends, the role will require work outside standard business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. When in-venue presence is required, the environment may be loud, crowded, low-light, and alcohol-service oriented. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during observations.
