Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Income Officer to join a well-established housing provider in Coventry on a temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in income collection, rent arrears and housing management who is looking for a hybrid role within a supportive and professional environment.
As an Income Officer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of rent accounts and working proactively with residents to maximise income collection and minimise arrears.
Your responsibilities of an Income Officer will include:
  • Managing rent arrears and taking appropriate recovery action.
  • Monitoring rent accounts and identifying potential issues at an early stage.
  • Working with residents to establish affordable repayment arrangements.
  • Providing advice and support to residents experiencing financial difficulties.
  • Taking appropriate action in line with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Preparing cases for further recovery action, including legal proceedings where necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring casework is fully documented.
  • Visiting residents in their homes or attending appointments when required.
  • Providing a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in an Income Officer, Rent Recovery, Arrears Officer or similar housing-related role.
You will ideally have:
  • Experience managing rent arrears and income collection within a housing environment.
  • A good understanding of housing legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to manage a caseload effectively and work to deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to preventing and recovering arrears.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
  • The confidence to deal with challenging conversations and situations professionally.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel and customer visits may be required.
