Data/Reporting Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data/Reporting Engineer with strong expertise in Power BI, SQL, data analytics, reporting, and enterprise database development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing reporting solutions, building semantic models and dashboards, supporting data integration and ETL processes, and partnering with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into actionable analytics.

The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL Server, stored procedures, semantic models, and enterprise reporting environments. Experience with Snowflake, Tableau, Python, Informatica, and financial services is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical solutions.

• Build and maintain semantic models, DAX calculations, measures, Power Query transformations, and reusable reporting assets.

• Develop intuitive visualizations for operational, management, and executive-level reporting.

• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into reporting and analytics solutions.

• Define KPIs, business rules, reporting metrics, and data requirements.

• Validate report accuracy and ensure alignment with business definitions and KPIs.

• Develop and maintain SQL Server database objects, including stored procedures, functions, queries, and performance-tuned SQL.

• Support data integration, ETL, data transformation, reconciliation, and data-quality validation processes.

• Work with enterprise databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Teradata, and Snowflake.

• Support report testing, UAT, production deployment, release management, and post-production support.

• Assist with Power BI administration and governance, including workspace management, security, access, and deployment pipelines.

• Monitor data refresh schedules, report performance, and production issues.

• Identify data-quality issues, reporting gaps, ambiguities, and potential risks and drive resolution with stakeholders.

• Collaborate with onshore/offshore technology teams and business partners across multiple regions and time zones.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.

• Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, development guidelines, and quality-control processes.

• Advocate for modern BI, analytics, data engineering, and software development practices.

Required Skills

• 5–7+ years of experience in data, BI, analytics, reporting, or data engineering.

• 3+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience.

• Experience with one or more of Oracle, DB2, Teradata, or Snowflake.

• Experience with BI/data integration tools such as Tableau, Informatica, and Power BI.

• Experience supporting ETL, data transformation, data validation, and reconciliation.

• Experience with Power BI administration, workspace security, access management, deployment pipelines, and governance.

• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.

• Strong communication, analytical, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

Desired Skills

• Python for data engineering, analytics, and automation.

• Experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SQLAlchemy.

• Experience developing data extraction, transformation, automation, and database/API integration solutions.

• Experience supporting ETL pipelines, data-quality checks, and reusable data utilities.

• Experience with Snowflake data modeling and performance optimization.

• Experience with Git and modern source-control practices.

• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps concepts.

• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.

• Understanding of enterprise application architecture, security, governance, and compliance.

• Experience in financial services, banking, lending, mortgage, risk, or wealth management is a plus.
