Interim Compliance Manager

London Hybrid Working (2-3 Days in Office) 12-Month Contract £(Apply online only) per day

A London local authority is seeking an experienced Interim Compliance Manager to lead the delivery of its landlord compliance function across a large and diverse housing portfolio.

This is a key leadership role overseeing the council's compliance programme, ensuring statutory obligations are met, driving contractor performance, and maintaining high standards of resident safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of the council's Big Five compliance areas.
  • Oversee compliance contracts with a particular focus on Gas, Electrical, Water Hygiene and Lift Safety.
  • Manage contractor performance and hold providers accountable for service delivery and KPI achievement.
  • Ensure all compliance certification, records and data are accurate, robust and audit-ready.
  • Lead and support compliance staff, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Building Safety and Asset Management teams to maintain statutory compliance.
  • Support procurement and contract mobilisation activities where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, strengthen compliance assurance and enhance resident safety.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Significant compliance management experience within a Local Authority or Housing Association.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory landlord compliance requirements.
  • Proven contract management experience across multiple compliance workstreams.
  • Experience managing teams and improving operational performance.
  • A track record of challenging underperformance and delivering measurable improvements.
  • Strong understanding of compliance reporting, certification and data management.
  • Experience contributing to procurement and contract renewal exercises.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM regulations and wider building safety requirements.
