Exciting Opportunity for Java Software Engineer.

12 month long-term contract with extension optionsHybrid Working ArrangementsDaily Rates-800-$1000 per day
Applicants must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.Your new companyAn excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to strategic technology and digital initiatives within a complex, regulated environment.This is an opportunity to join a highly respected engineering organisation operating within the Air Traffic Management, Flight Control and Aerospace domain. The organisation has approximately 500 employees globally, with around 80% of the engineering capability based in Australia.
Your new roleWorking closely with business stakeholders, technical specialists, project teams, vendors and delivery partners, you will:

  • Designing and delivering software to meet requirements including architecture, design, reuse, development, integration and verification
  • Defining and tailoring the software engineering environment and the process, practices and tools applicable to the project
  • Ensuring that the designed solution is developed according to design, schedule, cost and quality expectations
  • Identifying risks, and proposing effective solutions; executing mitigation actions and reporting on outcomes and residual risks
  • The ideal candidate will come from a complex, engineering-led environment where software is developed for mission-critical or safety-critical systems. Strong backgrounds include industries such as aerospace, defence, aviation, air traffic management, telecommunications, rail signalling, industrial control systems, embedded systems, real-time systems, and safety-critical software engineering

As part of your technical leadership you are also accountable for
  • Providing technical leadership and training on technical tasks (complex logical & numerical algorithms / performance issues / external interfaces / ) and technical reviews (workshops, peer reviews and project reviews).

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered, you will have:Must-have
  • Language: deep knowledge of Java
  • IDE/CICD Tools: GITLab, Gradle, Cucumber, JIRA, IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ, VSCode)
  • Experience with formal software engineering process and experience in the whole lifecycle
  • writing & reviewing design, requirements, tests and code
  • TDD approach
  • Experience in working large scale and distributed systems, being part of a greater whole than your component team or feature team.
  • Agile methodology: Scrum
  • Devops culture and CICD methodologies
Nice-to-have
  • Language: any others
  • Framework: Micro services, Swing, JavaFX, Core Java
  • Environment: Kubernetes, Helm, Kafka, RHEL, Rocky Linux
  • Scaled agile experience: Less, SAFe or other
  • ATM domain knowledge
  • Experience in software development in a critical safety environment

Experience within complex and engineering-focused, involving large-scale, mission-critical systems where reliability, safety and performance are paramount. This is not a typical web development environment. Engineers are expected to understand the business domain, operational logic and system behaviour, rather than simply working with a technology stack.
