As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will join our Loughborough team to support our activities within the clean energy and advanced technology sector. 

You will play a key role in the development of electrical distribution and wiring solutions for innovative products. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, integration, and documentation of wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems, ensuring reliable and efficient electrical architecture throughout the product lifecycle.

• Experience Level: Mid-Junior (2-4 years of experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop electrical wiring harnesses and Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS)
• Create and maintain electrical schematics using SolidWorks Electrical
• Produce and manage 3D electrical routing and harness models
• Support the integration of electrical systems into product assemblies
• Generate and maintain electrical design documentation, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BoMs)
• Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product integration
• Support prototype build, testing, and validation activities
• Implement design changes and maintain accurate configuration control throughout the product lifecycle

Required Skills:

• Experience designing wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems
• Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical
• Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring documentation
• Understanding of 3D routing and harness modelling principles
• Knowledge of electrical integration and system packaging considerations
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Good communication and problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in electrical design, EDS, or harness engineering
• Experience supporting product development within an engineering environment

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with electrical system integration and validation activities
• Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for wiring harnesses
• Familiarity with CAD-based electrical routing tools
• Experience within clean energy, automotive, aerospace, or advanced technology sectors
• Understanding of product lifecycle management and engineering change control processes
