Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Mid-Senior Data Engineer to join the HR Talent Analytics team. This role will focus on building, maintaining, and enhancing data integrations and analytics solutions that support compensation, talent analytics, employee listening, workforce reporting, and other HR initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on AWS data engineering and infrastructure experience, along with prior experience working with HR systems, employee data, or People/Talent Analytics environments. Because this role involves access to highly sensitive employee and compensation information, strong attention to data security, accuracy, and confidentiality is essential.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining existing data pipelines and integrations, troubleshooting production issues, supporting new data ingestion and egress requirements, and responding to ad hoc HR data requests.
Key Responsibilities:
AWS Infrastructure & Data Engineering:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing AWS infrastructure supporting HR/Talent Analytics data processes.
  • Monitor and resolve issues across AWS services and data pipelines, understanding potential downstream business impacts.
Support AWS services including:
  • AWS Lambda
  • AWS Step Functions
  • Amazon S3
  • Amazon RDS
  • DynamoDB
  • EventBridge
  • IAM
  • VPC
  • Maintain existing infrastructure and integrations while supporting new requirements as needed.
  • Use Terraform and GitHub for infrastructure management and source control.
  • Data Ingestion & Integration
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing HR and business data ingestion pipelines.
  • Develop and implement new data ingestion processes as business requirements evolve.
  • Work with APIs, SFTP/file-based integrations, cloud storage, and other data exchange methods.
Support integrations with HR and enterprise systems, including:
  • ADP
  • CultureAmp
  • Greenhouse Recruiting
  • Qualtrics
  • Payscale
  • Okta
  • Freshservice
  • Google Sheets
  • Docebo
  • Work with employee, compensation, performance, recruiting, survey, and workforce-related data.
  • Troubleshoot ingestion failures and ensure data is accurate, timely, and available to downstream consumers.
Data Egress & Distribution:
  • Maintain existing data distribution and egress processes.
  • Develop new data delivery patterns as required.
  • Support data transfers through SFTP, APIs, cloud storage, email, Google Sheets, Slack, and other internal platforms.
  • Support compensation-cycle data updates and employee-related reporting processes.
QuickSight & Reporting:
  • Administer and maintain AWS QuickSight environments.
  • Manage QuickSight user groups and access permissions.
  • Support HR/Talent Analytics reporting and dashboard requirements.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting requests involving workforce and compensation data.
Automation & Slack Integrations:
  • Maintain and enhance Slack-based automation and notification workflows.
  • Support employee listening and Qualtrics Slack integrations.
  • Maintain internal mobility workflows and notifications.
  • Support PTO tracking and other HR-related automation initiatives.
HR/Talent Analytics & Ad Hoc Data Requests:
  • Partner with HR, Talent Analytics, Compensation, Finance, Compliance, and other stakeholders to fulfill data requirements.
  • Support reporting related to:
  • Compensation and compensation bands
  • Market pricing studies
  • Employee allocation
  • Internal mobility
  • Employee listening
  • New hires and terminations
  • RIF-related reporting
  • Severance calculations
  • Affirmative Action Planning
  • EEOC reporting
  • OWBPA and AIA-related data requests
  • Ensure sensitive employee and compensation information is handled securely and appropriately.
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of professional Data Engineering experience, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based data/integration environments.
  • Experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, EventBridge, IAM, and VPC.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting production data pipelines and integrations.
  • Experience developing data ingestion processes using APIs, SFTP, files, or cloud-based integrations.
  • Experience with Terraform and GitHub.
  • Strong SQL and/or Python experience.
  • Experience working with HRIS, HR systems, employee data, People Analytics, Talent Analytics, or similar business data environments.
  • Strong understanding of data security, access controls, and handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
