Lead Performance Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 Months

Notes:

·        Face-to-Face (F2F) Interview is Mandatory

·        Candidates must be local to the Sunnyvale office.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Lead Performance Engineer to design, develop, and execute end-to-end performance testing and tuning strategies for enterprise and cloud-based (AWS) applications.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, K6, Gatling, DataDog, and Dynatrace, along with strong expertise in AWS performance tuning, end-to-end system performance testing, and automation testing.

The candidate will collaborate closely with development, QA, DevOps, and architecture teams to ensure applications are scalable, reliable, and performant across the full technology stack.

Key Responsibilities

·        12+ years of experience in Performance Engineering.

·        Experience in triaging network and AWS infrastructure issues is mandatory.

·        Design, develop, and maintain performance test scripts using Apache JMeter or similar tools for web, API, and backend systems.

·        Conduct load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing for applications and microservices.

·        Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for Next.js applications, covering unit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) testing.

·        Perform end-to-end performance testing across the full application stack, including frontend, APIs (REST/JSON, SOAP), backend services, databases, and infrastructure.

·        Perform AWS-specific performance tuning, including:

  • Right-sizing compute resources (EC2/ECS/EKS).
  • Optimizing auto-scaling policies.
  • RDS/database performance tuning.
  • Implementing caching strategies (ElastiCache/CDN).
  • Network and latency optimization.

·        Analyze test results, identify performance bottlenecks across application, infrastructure, and cloud layers, and provide actionable tuning recommendations.

·        Monitor system performance metrics, including CPU, memory, garbage collection (GC), I/O, and network utilization.

·        Monitor AWS-native metrics using CloudWatch, auto-scaling behavior, and RDS Performance Insights.

·        Collaborate with development, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure teams to optimize end-to-end application and AWS infrastructure performance.

·        Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.

·        Prepare detailed performance testing and tuning reports, including AWS cost-performance trade-off recommendations, and present findings to stakeholders.

·        Continuously improve testing frameworks, tools, and performance engineering best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

·        Strong experience in performance testing, performance tuning, and performance engineering best practices.

·        Hands-on expertise with Apache JMeter, including test plans, scripting, listeners, and distributed testing.

·        Frontend performance testing experience with Next.js applications.

·        Experience designing and deploying end-to-end performance testing frameworks covering the full application stack, not limited to API-level testing.

·        Hands-on experience with AWS performance tuning, including:

  • EC2/ECS/EKS scaling.
  • RDS/Aurora database tuning.
  • Load balancer configuration.
  • Caching strategies (ElastiCache and CloudFront).
  • Network optimization.
  • Experience with API automation and performance testing using REST and SOAP as part of an end-to-end testing approach.
  • Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS protocols, JSON, and XML.
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools, APM, server logs, and JVM monitoring.
  • Experience with AWS-native monitoring tools, including CloudWatch and X-Ray.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
