Senior Technical Project Manager (Healthcare exp is a plus) – Data Architecture & Engineering

Location: Houston, TX (onsite, hybrid, or remote ) –
Contract: 3-month initial contract with potential extension depending on client business need OR can be converted to a permanent role.

Overview

We is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead enterprise data architecture and data engineering initiatives. The role requires a technically knowledgeable PM who can quickly take over ongoing projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage delivery, and ensure data-related projects stay on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume ownership of active data and analytics projects.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, and dependencies.
• Translate technical architecture and requirements into actionable project plans.
• Coordinate data engineering, analytics, business, QA, and external vendor teams.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks related to integrations, data quality, source systems, and reporting.
• Facilitate technical decision-making and stakeholder communication.
• Oversee testing, release planning, UAT, and production deployment activities.
• Maintain project governance, status reporting, risk logs, and Agile delivery practices.
• Ensure compliance with security, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical project/program management experience.
• 3+ years leading data engineering, data architecture, data integration, or analytics projects.
• Strong understanding of:
• ETL/ELT pipelines
• Data warehouses/lakehouses
• SQL
• Data modeling
• System integrations
• Experience taking over and stabilizing projects already in progress.
• Ability to interpret architecture diagrams, technical requirements, and delivery impacts.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
• Strong stakeholder and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior hands-on experience in data engineering, BI, database development, or systems integration.
• Experience with data governance, MDM, metadata, lineage, and data quality initiatives.
• Healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or other regulated industry experience.
• Cloud data platform modernization and migration experience.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, or cloud certifications.

Success Metrics During Initial project

• Complete project transition and knowledge transfer.
• Validate delivery plans, priorities, and dependencies.
• Keep critical milestones on track while proactively managing risks.
• Maintain clear project documentation and reporting processes.
