Job Description

We are looking for a Network and Systems Administrator to install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure, server environments, end-user systems, and business applications. This position will be Full-Time and Onsite in Evanston, Illinois. This is a 35-hour per week contract (potential for contract to hire).

What You’ll Do

• Administer and maintain Windows server environments, network infrastructure, and supporting technologies to ensure system availability and performance
• Design, configure, test, and maintain computer hardware, networking software, operating systems, and office technology equipment
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network, server, desktop, and application issues across the organization
• Implement operating system installations, upgrades, patches, and technology enhancements
• Perform data backup, restoration, and disaster recovery activities to ensure business continuity
• Deploy software updates, enhancements, and bug fixes to Windows-based applications
• Coordinate hardware installations, upgrades, and maintenance for network equipment and servers
• Monitor website performance and availability to ensure uninterrupted operation of corporate web properties
• Maintain technical documentation, network logs, maintenance records, and support procedures
• Provide technical support to internal users and IT team members while ensuring high levels of customer service
• Manage user onboarding and offboarding activities, including account provisioning and access management
• Coordinate vendor relationships, technology purchases, maintenance agreements, and repair services
• Track, prioritize, and communicate issue resolution progress through the JIRA Help Desk platform
• Participate in after-hours support and respond to critical IT incidents as needed

What You'll Need

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 3+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments
• 3+ years of experience supporting desktop systems, networking infrastructure, hardware, and software
• Experience with Microsoft server administration tools including Microsoft Management Console (MMC), Server Manager, PowerShell, and Windows Services
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, domain services, and trust relationships
• Strong understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, and core networking protocols
• Experience supporting Windows 11 desktop and laptop environments
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V
• Experience maintaining Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook
• Experience onboarding and offboarding users and managing account access
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, antivirus solutions, website certificates, and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly detail-oriented environment
• Experience documenting technical processes, support activities, and infrastructure changes

Preferred:

• Experience supporting VMware-hosted private cloud environments
• Experience with Cisco and Meraki networking equipment
• Knowledge of firewall administration and network security configurations
• Experience supporting SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, or other database environments
• Exposure to .NET, Java, or AS/400 application environments
• Linux administration experience
• Experience managing software licensing, maintenance agreements, and hardware warranties
• Familiarity with procurement processes, purchase orders, vendor management, and invoice tracking
• Experience supporting SaaS-based enterprise applications
• IT certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, or CompTIA

Physical Demands 

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
• Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
• Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
• Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$48-$52 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
