PCB Draft Engineer

Location: Baltimore, MD (Onsite)

Role Overview

This role supports the creation and maintenance of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Printed Wiring Assembly (PWA) documentation packages used on defense electronics programs. The incumbent will work closely with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and configuration management to develop compliant drawing packages and support engineering releases. This is primarily a drafting and documentation role.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detail and assembly drawings of complicated parts and assemblies from layouts or general instructions.
• Prepare schematic, logic, and wiring diagrams from layouts and general instructions.
• Develop minor layouts of simple assemblies such as panels, chassis, printed circuit assemblies, and related hardware.
• Support Bill of Material (BOM) creation and engineering release packages.
• Apply design and engineering principles to determine the details of the design of parts.
• Make changes of major complexity on a variety of electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Obtain proper information for drawings from manuals, standard books, and engineering reference handbooks.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or equivalent plus an Associate's Degree in the field of Design and Drafting or two years of related drafting experience. Coursework in at least two of the following is required: algebra, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and physics.

Experience: A minimum of 3-8 years of drafting experience, including experience with PCB and/or PWA documentation and engineering drawing creation and maintenance.

Technical Skills: Understanding of PCB manufacturing documentation, experience with configuration management and engineering change processes, and a working knowledge of government drawing specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Mentor Graphics/Xpedition, Altium Designer, or Cadence Allegro.
• Familiarity with Teamcenter or other PLM systems.
• PCB layout exposure.
• Experience in the defense electronics industry.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14 drawing standards.
