Job Description

Position: Linux Engineer

Location: Remote

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Linux / Product Support Engineer with 8–12 years of experience supporting or developing embedded systems, RTOS, Linux, cloud, virtualization, and related technologies. The candidate will provide advanced technical support to enterprise customers, troubleshoot complex system-level issues, perform root cause analysis, manage escalations, and work closely with engineering and product teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for Linux, embedded systems, RTOS, virtualization, cloud platforms, and development toolchains.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, operating system, hardware, networking, virtualization, and cloud issues.
  • Investigate, reproduce, and diagnose customer issues using system logs, diagnostics, configurations, and product interactions.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and provide technical solutions, workarounds, and remediation recommendations.
  • Manage technical incidents, escalations, defect investigations, and SLA requirements.
  • Work directly with enterprise customers, technical stakeholders, account teams, engineering, product, and support organizations.
  • Provide timely customer communication, technical updates, and status reports.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge and best practices with global support teams.
  • Support onboarding, knowledge transfer, readiness activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead technical projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Serve as a Premium Support Engineer / designated technical account resource when required.

 

Required Technical Skills:

Linux, Embedded & RTOS

  • Strong experience with Linux and Embedded Linux.
  • Linux Kernel concepts, Device Drivers, and Board Support Packages (BSPs).
  • Hands-on experience with VxWorks / VxWorks RTOS.
  • RTOS troubleshooting.
  • Experience with processor architectures such as ARM, Intel, PowerPC, and RISC-V.

Programming & Debugging

  • Strong C/C++ and Python skills.
  • Rust is preferred.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and code analysis skills.

 

Cloud, Virtualization & Containers

  • Kubernetes and container technologies.
  • OpenStack.
  • Virtualization technologies and virtualization platforms.
  • Cloud-native applications and cloud platforms.
  • CI/CD platforms and DevOps practices.

 

Wind River Technologies

  • Wind River Linux.
  • Wind River Cloud Platform (WRCP).
  • Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP).
  • VxWorks RTOS.
  • Experience with Simics is preferred.

 

Networking & Distributed Systems

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and multicast.
  • Network diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Distributed systems troubleshooting.

 

Technical Support Operations

  • Incident Management.
  • Escalation Management.
  • Root Cause Analysis.
  • Defect Tracking.
  • Knowledge Management.
  • Technical Documentation.
  • Customer Communication.

 

Required Experience

  • 8–12 years of experience supporting or developing embedded systems, RTOS, Linux, cloud platforms, or related technologies.
  • 3–5 years of customer-facing technical support experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex software and system-level issues.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with software engineering and product organizations.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Wind River products.
  • Experience with WRCP, HVP, Simics, or Wind River Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenStack and Kubernetes deployments.
  • Experience supporting customers in aerospace, defense, telecommunications, industrial, or embedded software environments.
  • Experience as a Premium Support Engineer or designated technical account resource.
