Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join a growing North Jersey legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3–8 years of insurance defense litigation experience and be comfortable independently managing a litigation caseload.

Experience handling New Jersey automobile liability matters is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, reports and other litigation documents
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Handle motion practice and court appearances
- Participate in arbitrations and mediations
- Prepare matters for trial
- Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law
- Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal briefs and memoranda
- Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals and corporate clients

Requirements

- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active New Jersey Bar License
- 3–8 years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Ability to independently manage litigation matters
- Experience with pleadings, discovery, depositions and motion practice
- Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills

Preferred Qualifications

- New Jersey automobile liability defense experience
- Experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities
- Arbitration, mediation, trial or courtroom experience
- Premises liability experience
- Existing relationships with insurance carriers or claims professionals

Work Environment

Flexible hybrid. New attorneys are generally expected to work 2–3 days per week in the Jersey City office initially.
