Radar Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer Toyon Research Corporation Radar Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer Goleta, CA Description U.S. Citizenship Required. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required. This is an on-site position located in Goleta, CA. Toyon is seeking a Radar Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer to support advanced research, development, and analysis efforts for national defense applications.

This role focuses on the development of high-fidelity RF and radar models, electronic warfare, advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms, and system-level performance analysis in support of mission-critical programs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to design, simulate, and evaluate next-generation RF sensing and electronic warfare capabilities. The position requires strong technical depth, disciplined engineering practices, and the ability to contribute to classified programs. Responsibilities

  • Support system performance analysis by developing analytics through high-fidelity models of RF and radar systems
  • Design, implement, and evaluate advanced algorithms for detection, tracking, discrimination
  • Research and implement state-of-the-art techniques from scientific literature (e.g., IEEE, DoD technical reports)
  • Develop and maintain simulation frameworks, tools, and reusable software components
  • Develop and automate analysis workflows using Python, MATLAB, or C++ Requirements
  • M.S. or Ph. D. in computer science, engineering, math, or a physical science, and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for simulation automation and data analysis
  • Solid foundation in electromagnetics
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of radar systems, radar signal processing, or electronic warfare
  • Experience with advanced radar concepts such as: MIMO radar architectures, Orthogonal waveform design and analysis, Direction of Arrival estimation techniques (e.g., MUSIC, ESPRIT), Beamforming and adaptive beam steering, Bistatic radar geometries and processing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret)
  • Experience working with classified data and secure computing environments
  • Experience with RF simulation tools (e.g., FDTD, FEM, MoM, UTD, or hybrid techniques).
  • Relevant research experience, publications or patents

The annual pay range for the Radar Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer position is $140,000 to $220,000. The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate’s education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
