Retail Systems Manager

Keep a retailer trading, every day.

PMC Commerce builds the technology that retailers run on, including our Graphene commerce solution. We’re looking for a Retail Systems Manager to take day-to-day ownership of the technology one of our retail customers depends on: the systems, the standards and the suppliers behind them.

This isn’t a service desk job. You won’t be first line for every fault. You’ll make sure faults are fixed to standard, recurring ones are designed out, and the business always knows where it stands.

What you’ll do

• Own the relationship with the managed service provider and hold them to the agreed standard.
• Be the escalation point when an IT incident hits trading.
• Run the change gate, so change lands without disrupting stores.
• Own the technology plan for new store openings, refits and closures, and make sure stores open on the day they should.
• Manage supplier contracts, renewals and licence costs. Challenge price and performance.
• Own PCI DSS compliance, including the Graphene payment solution, and keep the risk register current.
• Work with stakeholders across head office, stores and warehouse to set priorities deliberately.

What you’ll bring

• Experience owning IT or retail systems in a multi-site business
• A track record of holding suppliers and managed service providers to SLA
• Experience deciding what change goes in, what waits, and why
• Working knowledge of EPOS, payments, stock systems and store networks
• Confidence in commercial conversations and in explaining technical issues to non-technical colleagues, up to board level
• Willingness to travel to stores and provide occasional out-of-hours cover

Retail experience, Graphene knowledge, PCI DSS awareness or ITIL Foundation would be a bonus.

How you’ll grow

You’ll work closely with our Technology and Solutions Director, who sets the strategy and standards. Your job is to turn them into delivery on the ground. As your knowledge builds, you’ll take on more ownership. By the end of the contract, you’ll be running the day-to-day function with confidence.
