ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Client is seeking a Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of construction job sites, with a focus on healthcare projects. The Superintendent is responsible for managing scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment, as well as supervising all direct labor and contracted work to ensure successful project completion. This role requires planning construction procedures, coordinating with project managers, directing procurement, maintaining communication with all project stakeholders, resolving workforce issues, inspecting work progress, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a construction-related field, at least five years of commercial construction experience-specifically in healthcare construction-and a background in HCAI/OSHPD. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in reading blueprints, understanding building codes, and managing subcontractors. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites are required.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Plan construction procedures based on project specifications, timelines, and staffing requirements
• Study specifications to plan procedures for construction, considering available tools, equipment, and building methods
• Coordinate with Project Manager to develop and maintain project schedules, including "look ahead" schedules, and participate in pre-construction meetings
• Direct procurement and timely delivery of tools, materials, and equipment to meet work schedules
• Supervise and manage all direct labor and subcontracted work on site to ensure quality and timely completion
• Facilitate communication among project stakeholders, including supervisory personnel, craft workers, subcontractors, and clients; conduct regular meetings to update and gather input
• Meet with subcontractors prior to mobilization to review scope of work, schedule, and phasing requirements
• Resolve workforce complaints and grievances in collaboration with supervisory and labor representatives
• Identify and resolve construction problems in collaboration with engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to improve construction methods
• Inspect ongoing work to ensure compliance with specifications, safety standards, and schedules
• Monitor project progress, material usage, and costs; adjust work schedules as needed
• Manage crew assignments, labor costs, and personnel transitions between projects; responsible for crew mixes and work assignments
• Assist in preparing the Project Management Plan with the project manager
• Ensure consistent implementation of company policies, safety standards, equal opportunity, and quality requirements
• Maintain housekeeping requirements and company quality standards on site
• Perform other related duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of commercial construction experience
• Experience within healthcare construction required
• Experienced leading field teams on healthcare projects
• HCAI/OSHPD background required
• Strong communication and people leadership skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
• Ability to understand and apply building codes and read blueprints accurately
• Knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (Basic Spanish preferred)
• Good administrative and management skills, including monitoring progress and coordination of work activities
