DevOps Engineer

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Swindon, is currently looking to recruit a DevOps on a permanent basis on a salary of £43,130 - £44,000/annum. This role offers remote working.

Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and highly available environments on Microsoft Azure.
- Operate and optimise App Services, networking, and load balancing for .NET web applications.
- Manage DNS, CDN, WAF and edge configurations via Cloudflare.
- Improve reliability via autoscaling, health checks, disaster recovery strategies, and failover.
- Evaluate and refine caching and session management for horizontally-scaled architectures.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using ARM, Bicep or Terraform.
- Implement deployment strategies such as blue/green and zero-downtime deployment slots.
- Manage DevOps pipelines including secure handling of client keys.
- Support rollback automation and resilient deployment flows.
- Support the management and development of the Power Platform to meet business improvement objectives.
- Configure monitoring, dashboards, tracing and alerting using Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
- Track and remediate application errors including HTTP 500 responses.
- Manage server performance analysis and log reviews.
- Implement IAM, secrets management, TLS and other security controls.
- Manage Firewall rules, private endpoints, WAF, IP allow/deny lists and bot protection.
- Application gateway.

- Produce and maintain architecture documentation and operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with software developers to align infrastructure with application needs (CI/CD, runtime performance, scaling).

Essential Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Azure App Services, virtual machines, subnets, load balancing and scaling
- Experience with elastic cloud platforms and cost/performance optimisation
- Expertise in networking, CDN strategies, and traffic flow management
- Familiarity with Cloudflare including caching rules, headers and bot protection
- Ideally, exposure to blue/green and zero-downtime deployments
- Ideally, experience with autoscaling, load testing and bottleneck analysis
- Ideally, experience of working within an Agile project management structure
- Strong understanding of cloud platform architecture
- Disaster recovery, backup, failover and load testing practices
- CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation and collaboration workflows
- Key Vault and secrets management
- Knowledge of centralised logging, advanced monitoring, dashboards and application performance tuning
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Ability to diagnose complex infrastructure issues quickly
- Effective communication with developers, product teams and operations
- Ability to produce clear documentation and operational procedures
