Job Description

Sr. Manager – Forward Deployed Engineering

Remote (USA)

Must Have: surgical/ clinical domain experience

Role Overview

As an Engagement Manager, you will lead end-to-end delivery of surgical AI solutions deployed directly at hospital sites for a global MedTech client. You are the single point of accountability for your Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) pod, owning everything from discovery and scoping through production deployment and ongoing operations. This role combines technical leadership, clinical domain expertise, and operational excellence to drive transformative outcomes in surgical AI across hospital networks.

What You'll Do

  • Lead cross-functional hospital deployments by coordinating timelines, aligning stakeholders, integrating with clinical IT infrastructure, and ensuring go-live readiness across multiple hospital sites.
  • Co-lead onsite discovery and scoping with the Principal Data Scientist to define clear project scope, clinical requirements, and technical specifications that align with hospital workflows and regulatory constraints.
  • Manage pod resource allocation monthly based on active pipeline complexity, capacity requests, and client priorities; oversee team onboarding, offboarding, and knowledge transfer protocols.
  • Establish and maintain delivery rhythm through daily standups, weekly delivery and SLA reviews, monthly governance meetings, and quarterly business reviews with stakeholders.
  • Track operational metrics including SLAs, resource utilization, and blockers; escalate critical issues to executive leadership within 48 hours when needed.
  • Serve as primary client liaison as the day-to-day counterpart to the hospital's clinical engagement lead, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Embed compliance and security by maintaining SOC 2 and HIPAA controls from project inception through production, ensuring PHI protection and regulatory adherence across all deliverables.
  • Work onsite at hospital sites alongside the data science team, bringing clinical domain fluency and operational leadership to real-world deployment environments.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • 12–15 years of experience in healthcare software delivery, clinical IT integration, or hospital-based technology deployments.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional teams spanning data science, data engineering, ML engineering, and clinical operations.
  • Deep clinical domain knowledge: fluency in surgical workflows, operating room constraints, MedTech regulatory requirements (FDA, 21 CFR Part 11), and clinical IT ecosystems.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance, PHI protection, SOC 2 controls, and healthcare data governance.
  • Experience managing complex, regulated deployments in client-owned environments where data and IP remain with the client.
  • Ability to work onsite at US hospital sites; availability for flexible scheduling aligned with hospital operations (9:30 AM – 6:30 PM).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between clinical, technical, and executive stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with surgical AI, computer vision, or medical device software.
  • Familiarity with hospital EHR systems, OR management systems, or clinical data infrastructure.
  • Background in healthcare consulting, clinical operations, or hospital administration.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML deployment pipelines and model validation in regulated environments.
  • Experience with agile delivery methodologies in healthcare settings.
