Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform skilled inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of aircrew flight equipment and associated systems in direct support of the Consolidated Maintenance Management and Repair Services (CMMARS) AV-8B program at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point. The position applies comprehensive technical knowledge to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions of moderate complexity and ensure assigned equipment meets operational, safety, and mission-readiness requirements in accordance with applicable technical publications, manufacturer specifications, and government directives.

Responsibilities:

• Performs periodic, scheduled, and unscheduled inspections, troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, repair, and modification of aircrew flight equipment, including parachutes, life rafts, survival kits, oxygen masks, helmets, pressure suits, anti-G suits, and other protective or survival systems.
• Ensures correct fitting and comfort of aircrew flight gear; assists aircrew in proper donning and adjustment of equipment.
• Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and established troubleshooting procedures to identify, diagnose, and resolve malfunctions of moderate complexity involving aircrew flight and survival equipment, coordinating with aircrew, maintenance personnel, and higher-level technical resources as necessary.
• Certifies assigned aircrew flight equipment as safe for flight and makes required entries in applicable aircraft maintenance logs, records, and maintenance data systems to accurately document inspections, discrepancies, repairs, corrective actions, and equipment status.
• Performs operational and continuity checks on survival radios, beacons, and other emergency signaling and communication devices.
• Disassembles, repairs, reassembles, and tests life support and survival systems to ensure compliance with OEM and government standards.
• Independently interprets and applies applicable technical publications, maintenance manuals, manufacturer specifications, blueprints, schematics, technical directives, and other maintenance documentation to troubleshoot, repair, test, and return assigned equipment to service.
• Performs assigned maintenance and repair work independently within established technical requirements, obtaining technical guidance from supervisors or higher-level technicians when required for unusually complex conditions.
• Prioritizes assigned maintenance, inspection, and repair activities to meet established flight schedules, operational requirements, and mission-readiness deadlines.
• May provide technical guidance to other maintenance personnel and assist in leading personnel through more complex flight-equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair tasks.
• Adheres to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience maintaining aircrew flight equipment and three (3) years of experience supporting flight line operations.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, including successful completion of a Tier 1 National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). 
• Thorough knowledge of inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, modification, and replacement procedures applicable to aircrew flight, survival, and life-support equipment, including associated mechanical and electrical components.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of applicable technical publications, maintenance manuals, technical directives, blueprints, schematics, manufacturer specifications, and maintenance documentation requirements.
• Familiarity with aircraft egress systems, pyrotechnic/explosive devices, and associated safety procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to properly use appropriate hand tools, specialized test equipment, and other equipment required to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and certify assigned flight equipment.
• Understanding of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
• Competency in office automation software (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Follows prescribed safety, quality assurance, and environmental procedures to ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and in accordance with applicable requirements.
• U.S. citizenship may be required based on contract specifications.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Work involves frequent standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and reaching in various positions.
• Must be physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 60 pounds.
• Requires manual dexterity and coordination to operate hand tools and test equipment.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, hazardous materials, and moving mechanical parts may occur.
• Must be capable of working independently or as part of a team in a high-tempo, mission-critical environment.
• Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
• Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, often in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, wind). Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.   

Contract Assignment: This position supports a government contract currently scheduled to conclude on November 30, 2026. Continued employment is contingent upon contract renewal or extension, funding availability, and ongoing business needs. Employment beyond the current contract period is not guaranteed.
