Job Description

Naval Architect, Senior | Mount Vernon, VA, United States | Hybrid | $120,000 - $150,000

We're hiring on behalf of a respected, growing company that provides critical mission support across defense and civilian agencies. This organization is known for delivering innovative, tailored expertise in engineering and program management to tackle some of the nation's most complex challenges. They are seeking a seasoned Naval Architect to join a key government support team.

The Role

  • Provide comprehensive technical support for ship design phases, including feasibility, concept, preliminary, and contract design.
  • Evaluate ship systems and equipment, define requirements, and perform analyses related to hull form, stability, weights, and structures.
  • Develop system documentation and specifications for surface assets, performing structural analysis using industry standards.
  • Conduct, witness, and document various ship trials, such as stability, speed, power, and maneuvering tests.
  • Support the United States Coast Guard's Ship Design Team.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering/marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of six years of progressive experience in Naval Architecture.
  • At least one year of experience with U.S. Federal or commercial ship/boat acquisition programs.
  • Proficiency with naval architecture software for complex hull design problems.
  • Knowledge of relevant ship design rules and regulations (e.g., USN, USCG, IACS, commercial).
  • Eligibility for a Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
