Senior UI/UX Developer / Design System Architect

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior UI/UX Developer / Design System Architect with strong expertise in enterprise design systems, accessibility, and Angular development. The ideal candidate will have experience building design systems from scratch and implementing accessible, reusable components across enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and implement enterprise design systems from the ground up using USWDS or similar frameworks.

• Develop reusable, accessible components and wrapper components using Angular, HTML, and SASS/SCSS.

• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1, Section 508, ARIA, and semantic HTML standards.

• Use Storybook for component development, documentation, and collaboration.

• Conduct accessibility reviews, testing, and remediation.

• Collaborate with UX, developers, architects, and business teams.

• Provide technical guidance and clearly communicate accessibility and design system standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of front-end development experience.

• Proven experience creating and implementing enterprise design systems from scratch.

• Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1, Section 508, ARIA, and accessibility testing.

• Strong proficiency in Angular, HTML, and SASS/SCSS.

• Experience with Storybook and reusable component libraries.

• Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with USWDS or comparable enterprise design systems.

Preferred

• Experience with .NET, MVC, and SQL.

• Government/public-sector application experience.

• Experience with automated and manual accessibility testing tools.
