Database Analyst / Programmer 3 - Senior Data Analyst - Business Intelligence & Analytics

Job Overview

Caterpillar's VisionLink team within Cat Digital is seeking a Database Analyst / Programmer 3 to support equipment management applications by gathering stakeholder requirements, analyzing large and complex datasets, and delivering actionable insights. The role will help drive application enhancements, improve customer experience, and support go-to-market strategies through data-driven decision-making.

Location & Work Schedule

• Preferred Location: Peoria, IL Also Open To: Chicago, IL and Broomfield, CO
• Work Model: Hybrid
• Duration: 12-month contract

Note: Candidates should be comfortable with a hybrid environment requiring in-office attendance several days per week. The role may eventually transition to a full return-to-office model.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
• Analyze existing reporting and data products and recommend enhancements.
• Gather and document business and technical requirements from stakeholders.
• Define technical specifications for reporting and dashboard solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation and communicate requirements to senior analysts and technical teams.
• Support senior analysts by fulfilling data requests and providing analytical insights.
• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and business insights.
• Contribute to production-ready analytics solutions and reporting initiatives.

Team Environment

• Small, collaborative team consisting of 3 core members working closely with a 4th team member.
• Regular interaction with internal Caterpillar stakeholders and business users.
• Opportunity to work on customer usage analytics and equipment management applications within Cat Digital.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, or a related analytical role.
• Bachelor's degree is not required.
• Strong understanding of:

Preferred Technical Skills

• 2+ years of experience querying and analyzing large, complex datasets using Snowflake or similar data platforms.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data structures.
• 2+ years of experience developing dashboards and visualizations using:
• Tableau
• Power BI
• Experience with AI-related workflows, including:
• Data Pipeline Engineering
• Prompt Engineering
• Experience deploying analytics or reporting solutions into production environments.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
