Kubernetes Engineer

We are looking for an Kubernetes Engineer for an 12 Month Day Rate Contract on a hybrid basis in Belfast.

Deloitte is seeking an experienced Kubernetes Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team on an initial 12-month contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes-based platforms, supporting the delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions.

What you'll do;

• Design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes clusters across cloud and/or on-premises environments.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerised applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Implement infrastructure automation and platform engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with development, architecture, security, and operations teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated application delivery.
• Monitor platform performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying areas for improvement.

The skills you'll need:

• Strong commercial experience with Kubernetes (K8s) administration and engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerisation technologies.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform:
  • Azure
  • AWS
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong understanding of Linux systems administration.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:
  • Azure DevOps
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub Actions
  • GitLab CI
• Infrastructure as Code experience using:
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Bicep or equivalent
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as:
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • ELK Stack
  • Splunk
• Strong troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills.

Technical & Ways of Working

• Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS).
• Experience with OpenShift.
• Service Mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• GitOps tooling such as ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience in regulated financial services or large enterprise environments.
• Exposure to platform engineering and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
