Job Description

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Missile Defense Command & Control Analyst to develop, analyze, and assess advanced C2 algorithms and architectures for integrated air and missile defense. You will apply data science, modeling and simulation, and AI/ML techniques to evaluate sensor networks, battle management logic, and decision-support tools under realistic threat scenarios. Collaborating with multidisciplinary experts, you will prototype analytical tools, interpret complex data, brief sponsors, and inform future system concepts-advancing mission-driven national security research in a highly collaborative, ethical, and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze command and control algorithms for missile defense missions
  • Build and run modeling and simulation experiments for integrated air and missile defense scenarios
  • Apply data science and AI/ML methods to evaluate system performance and decision-support tools
  • Assess sensor networks, tracking, and battle management logic under realistic threat conditions
  • Prototype analytical and visualization tools to support sponsor decision-making
  • Document findings in technical reports and present results to Do
  • D and government sponsors
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across data science, systems engineering, and operations analysis
  • Contribute to future concepts and architectures for missile defense command and control
  • Validate models and assumptions against test data and operational insights
  • Support proposal writing and internal research and development efforts
