Senior Mechanical Engineer

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Birmingham City Centre / Jewellery Quarter<br />Salary: £45,000–£52,000<br />Working pattern: Hybrid and flexible working<br />Employment: Permanent, full-time An employee-owned building services and sustainability consultancy is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing Birmingham team. The business delivers mechanical, electrical, energy and sustainability services across commercial, industrial, healthcare, residential, retail, care and mixed-use developments. This position offers responsibility for your own projects, direct client contact and the opportunity to help develop junior engineers. The role You’ll lead the mechanical design delivery of projects from initial concept through to construction, working across the relevant RIBA stages.

• Design HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems
• Produce calculations, specifications, schedules and technical reports
• Coordinate drawings with the in-house CAD team and other disciplines
• Develop low-carbon and energy-efficient mechanical solutions
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables
• Attend client meetings and liaise with architects and contractors
• Undertake site monitoring while supporting junior engineers and technicians Your experience
• Mechanical building services design experience within a consultancy
• A relevant mechanical or building services engineering qualification
• Experience delivering projects through multiple RIBA stages
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems
• Experience with mechanical design software, IES and CAD/BIM workflows
• Strong client-facing, communication and project-management skills Chartered status or progress towards Chartership would be beneficial. Healthcare, HTM or CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant/Energy Assessor experience would also be welcomed but is not essential. What’s on offer
