Location : UK; remote with some ad hoc travel required

Hours : Part-time – three days per week

Salary : Circa £50k-60k FTE

About the role

I am recruiting for an experienced, hands-on People Operations & Culture Manager to support a Global People Director and strengthen the people foundations of a vibrant and fast-paced, growing, international consulting firm.

The role is unique in that you can be based anywhere in the UK as long as you are happy working remotely. You will likely meet with the People Director every month or so, so do need to be happy with a bit of travel.

This is a varied role combining core HR operations, compliance and policy work with opportunities to contribute to performance, wellbeing, employee experience and organisational culture.

Initially, the priority will be ensuring that the HR frameworks, policies, training and processes are current, robust and well organised. As these foundations become established, the role will increasingly support our wider people and culture agenda.

This would suit an experienced HR generalist looking for a part-time role with considerable autonomy and scope to shape how the work is delivered.

Key responsibilities:

• Review and maintain our employee handbooks, HR policies, employment documentation and supporting guidance.
• Help ensure our UK people practices remain aligned with employment legislation and good practice, working with colleagues and external advisers to identify relevant employment requirements in other regions, namely EU and United States.
• Review and coordinate people-related compliance training, working with external providers to ensure engaging approaches are developed.
• Support managers with performance, feedback, employee relations, absence, wellbeing and other people matters.
• Help strengthen and support our performance management and employee development processes with clear, practical templates and guidance that support consistent people processes.
• Support work on organisational culture, values, expected behaviours and employee experience.
• Contribute to employee listening activities, including Great Place to Work, and help turn feedback into meaningful actions.
• Help maintain accurate and accessible employee, CV, skills and capability information.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, contractual changes and offboarding where required.
• Establish a dependable annual cycle for key people activities, policy reviews, compliance and reporting.

Your Experience:

You will be an experienced HR professional who combines sound judgement with a practical, hands-on approach.

• Broad UK HR generalist experience, including policies, employee relations, employment law and performance management.
• Experience of working in a professional services (partnership model) is highly advantageous.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of work from initial review through to implementation.
• Experience of developing practical HR processes, guidance and documentation.
• An understanding of people-related compliance, data protection and confidentiality.
• Experience of designing, sourcing or facilitating workplace learning.
• Strong written communication and organisational skills.
• An interest in culture, behaviour, employee experience and wellbeing.
• Confidence working with and constructively challenging senior colleagues.
• A pragmatic approach suited to a relatively small, entrepreneurial business.

Experience of supporting international teams, particularly in the EU and the United States, would be advantageous but is not essential.
